locking/deleting the thread wouldn't undo the situation; it would just make people more curious. The moderators weren't responsible for the actions leading up to what was being discussed in this thread, so no one should be blaming the moderators or the site owner for not being able to rectify the situation.

and lets stop pretending that this happened in the middle of the day when there were a ton of people participating. this happened at night when there weren't many people posting and didn't even really get going until even later. had this been squashed then, only the few people involved and surrounding fat chicks and chatty cathys would have noticed.

also of note is that this was bttt'd by EMCE, a moderator on this site, who continually stirred the pot

and even if the moderators weren't successful at leaving this between the involved parties, they should have taken the simple step to make an effort like decent people.
