Cavs blow them out in front of a full house (i remember it was 23,901 for a number of years but not the inaugural) and the crowd gives them a standing ovation

Went to the Bobcats/Clippers game yesterday (to see the Clippers), and boy was that game unexciting. Bobcats aren't good (not that the Clippers are amazing), and the whole place was dead. The only time the crowd got pumped was when they promised free pizza if a Clippers missed two free throws....first NBA game was disappointing.

don't lie, i bet the crowd also got excited during the timeout t-shirt tosses

Big Pat really knows how to get the crowd pumped up with the allure of a free "Bobcats" tshirt, which is basically a tshirt with a small Bobcats logo, and a massive logo from Lowe's or Harris Teeter or whatever

but for whatever reason people at the Bobcats games seem to get genuinely more excited about the chance of a free tshirt than they do about basketball

i hate that this had a be a bobcats game for your first game ... i would try to get to one somewhere else to cleanse your palate on NBA games, because they can be fun to go to

^^ who cares this draft blows donkey balls if you don't get a top 4-5 pick.

Not to mention Jordan can barely draft a rotation player let alone someone who might help the team.

He'll probably trade the first round pick again for the next Ajinca.

A couple points just to illustrate our futility:

1) We have a few prospective clients in from Hungary this week and as we often do, planned to take them to the Bobcats game to entertain them. When they caught wind of the plan, they seemed less than enthusiastic. Noting their interest in discussing the NCAA tournament earlier this week, I told them I thought they liked basketball, to which they replied that they did, very much so. They just had little interest in seeing the Pacers play the Bobcats.

2) We went anyway, because Charlotte doesn't exactly have a wealth of entertainment options on Wednesday night. They had a big NASCAR night theme, and one of the events was giving the people behind one basket a bunch of foam objects (mufflers? carburetors? who cares) to wave when Indiana shot free throws. They gave them out at halftime and had a big message on the video board the first time they got to the line in the 3rd quarter. Problem is, they gave them out to the people on the wrong side, so the people behind the Pacers goal had nothing, while the fans behind the Bobcats goal still waved their distractions while we were shooting, mostly oblivious.

On the plus side, I got three Hungarians to hate Tyler Hansbrough, so the evening wasn't a total loss.

Well, I got my tickets for the game Sunday against the Wizards, about 30 minutes before John Wall punched Zydrunas Ilgauskas tonight. So I'll probably be seeing the Bobcats Vs Wizards, without John Wall.

Didn't know anything about McGuire so I looked up his bio, and it looks like we used him exactly how we're supposed to

Quote :
"+ Wing defender with length and athleticism to bother shooters; also can play four.

+ Miserable offensive player who can't shoot or handle. Excellent rebounder.

Here's my most amazing stat from 2009-10: Dominic McGuire played 307 minutes without making a single foul shot. He earned only seven trips to the line, and shanked all seven, further cementing his rep as one of the league's least threatening offensive players.

McGuire is a good defender, especially against small ball fours, and annually posts among the best rebound rates at the small forward spot. But he averages only 6.3 points per 40 minutes for his career, and his turnover rates are astronomic. His only real use is as an end-of-quarter defensive specialist, where you know ahead of time there's no chance of him playing offense."

Got them for $20 on the lower level. No chance I was paying face value for them.

0 points in 33 minutes for Kwame Brown. He may have had the worst game I've ever seen. He dropped at least half of the passes thrown to him.

"24. Charlotte Bobcats
Keeping their playoff hopes alive with an astoundingly awful on-paper collection of players. Watching them gives me the same feeling I get when I watch "Celebrity Rehab," with that "Wait, is that the kid from 'Party of Five'?" feeling replaced by "Wait, is that Shaun Livingston?" Put it this way: If MJ was playing golf with another owner for $500,000 a skin and got creamed, and the other owner said, "Screw the money; trade me your best player for a second-round pick," we'd have this exchange:

MJ (confused): "I would, but I don't have a best player."
Owner: "What do you mean? You have to have someone good."
MJ: "I mean, I could give you … DJ Augustin? Stephen Jackson? Gerald Henderson?"
Owner (thinking): "Screw it, cut me a check.""

Just fold the franchise, Jordan is incapable of doing anything right.

Rick Bonnell is the worst...his blog is always days late with news, and he never has any inside information that a team reporter should have

not to mention his writing is horrible, his opinions are generally baseless...i just can't see how he has a job, he must be the worst beat writer in sports

He was the Hornets guy from way back, then hung on as a general nba writer in the lean years between teams until we got the Bobcats.

The Observer doesn't exactly have a star studded line up of up and coming reporters and columnists, so I assume its his job as long as he wants it.

Tom Sorensen with some top-notch journalism:

Quote :
"Michael Jordan, owner of the Charlotte Bobcats and star of TV commercials, sat down with the Observer for an hour Wednesday.

We talked about basketball. And Charlie Sheen.

It's evident from watching the Hanes commercial Jordan filmed with Charlie Sheen that there is a bond between the stars. It wasn't just acting. Nobody acts that well. There was a connection. Their work, their dialogue, the way Jordan and Sheen played off each other was, I believe, moving.

So, Michael, I asked. Were you suprised by Charlie's outbursts and have you reached out to him?

"I, I, I mean I don't even know how to respond to that one," Jordan says. "I've had a lot of other things on my mind -- winning. So my relationship with Charlie is not one where we communicate that way. I did a commerical with him two years ago, three years ago."

But after filming, weren't there beers, parties, Hollywood hanging out?

"I haven't spent any time with Charlie," Jordan says laughing. "Don't put me there.""

an hour with Jordan, who rarely gives in-depth interviews, and this is what he comes up with?
