The majority of people disagree with the death penalty bc the system is flawed and innocent people are murdered by the state. Are we good or evil when innocent people are murdered?

As for torture.....are we good or evil when we torture someone.

That is a fair criticism of the system, but my point is that being pro-life and pro-death penalty isn't hypocritical if your position is based on valuing life based on innocence.

Also I would imagine present-day innocent executions are almost non-existent.

There are plenty of wrongful convictions and executions. You are delusional if you think that our justice system actually works. It works better for people that have money to hire private attorneys, but even then it still fails to get justice 100% of the time.

The sanctity of life for innocent US citizens, yes. You're conflating the life of an innocent US Citizen with the life of a terrorist planning to kill as many US Citizens as possible. Anyone with common sense can differentiate between the two and see that the values are consistent.

To me the reason to not filibuster is because it seems highly likely they're going to get another pick during this term. If you still have the filibuster as an option they may not want to go nuclear because they know they're losing in the next election, so they would possibly nominate someone more centrist.

If they go nuclear now they would have no reason at all not to nominate whoever the hell they want next time
