Low expectations always seem to serve us well.

I do think that we will be competetive and fun to watch, although I think we are going to get embarrassed by Clemson on a Thursday night early in the season which sucks. Wish that game was 2-3 weeks later.

Good question. I haven't really kept up with Doeren at all so I just did a quick wiki search. 23 - 4 really stood out but then I looked at who they played. The most surprising thing was that 12 games (9 - 3) were against teams with 4 or fewer wins. Just out of curiosity I checked, we were 5 - 2 against teams with 4 or fewer wins over the last two years, BC & Maryland the losses.

At any rate my enthusiasm for college football was dying on the vine last year. At least the coach change has made my interest level go back up. Sink or swim at least there will be different plays to watch this year.

do I have to actually go to the wolfpack club to buy that 7 game package? I don't want to do mini packs as I am sure they will be sold out as they said.

I think you can just call the ticket office. They usually have an allotment of season tickets for general sale.

"Pack Football To Host "Lift For Life" Event

Raleigh, NC - The Wolfpack football team will hold its second annual “Lift for Life” event on Thursday, July 25th at 4 p.m. at the Dail Practice Facility.

The event will raise funds and awareness for Uplifting Athletes - a national nonprofit organization aligning college football with the fight against rare diseases.

The public is invited to come observe as the team endures a grueling workout in an attempt to recreate the struggle cancer patients endure every day. Attendees will have a first- hand look at how the Wolfpack trains and get a glimpse of the team before it heads into fall camp to prepare for the upcoming season.

Following the workout, fans can meet and greet the participating players at an autograph session.

Last season, the team raised $2,500 and the goal for 2013 is $10,000 to fight Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia, a rare cancer of the blood. Former NC State offensive coordinator Dana Bible was diagnosed with this rare disease in 2008. Despite undergoing intense chemotherapy, Bible beat the disease and is still in remission today.

“Coach Bible was inspiration to us during his struggle,” said Wolfpack fullback Tyler Purvis, vice-president of the Pack’s chapter of Uplifting Athletes. “He never missed a single practice or let us see any weakness, even though he was very sick. He showed us that anything is possible through prayer, determination, believing in yourself, and having a loving and supporting cast around you. That’s why we decided to raise money for this particular disease.”

Donations are graciously accepted through the Uplifting Athletes website.

We took an underthrown ball that was a gift wrapped pick and tipped it to a player standing in the endzone for a touchdown if I remember correctly. I watched that one on my phone but I think it was Bishop.

I was at that Miami game last year. It was one of the most frustrating losses I've witnessed as a lifelong State fan. It was by far the hottest game I've ever been to. Amerson easily cost us 3-4 touchdowns by himself trying to go for picks and getting burned...

It's time to start thinking about entrance songs and videos again.

I, for one, expect to hear this song played a lot.

Whoa, oh, oh
Whoa, oh, oh
Whoa, oh, oh
Whoa

I'm waking up to ash and dust
I wipe my brow and I sweat my rust
I'm breathing in the chemicals

I'm breaking in, shaping up, then checking out on the prison bus
This is it, the apocalypse
Whoa

I'm waking up, I feel it in my bones
Enough to make my systems blow
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh, oh, I'm radioactive, radioactive
Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh, oh, I'm radioactive, radioactive

I raise my flags, don my clothes
It's a revolution, I suppose
We're painted red to fit right in
Whoa

I'm breaking in, shaping up, then checking out on the prison bus
This is it, the apocalypse
Whoa

I'm waking up, I feel it in my bones
Enough to make my systems blow
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh, oh, I'm radioactive, radioactive
Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh, oh, I'm radioactive, radioactive

All systems go, the sun hasn't died
Deep in my bones, straight from inside

I'm waking up, I feel it in my bones
Enough to make my systems blow
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh, oh, I'm radioactive, radioactive
Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh, oh, I'm radioactive, radioactive

I think we should come out to 'Howlin for You' by the Black keys, because NC State is the wolfpack and wolves howl. And it says howl in the song. Also they are the black keys and we sometimes wear black jerseys.

I must admit
I can't explain
Any of these thoughts racing
Through my brain

It's true
Baby I'm howlin' for you

There's something wrong
With this plot
The actors here
Have not got

A clue
Baby I'm howlin' for you

Mockingbird
Can't you see
Little girl's
Got a hold on me

Like glue
Baby I'm howlin' for you

Throw the ball
To the stick
Swing and miss and a

Catcher's mitt
Strike two
Baby I'm howlin' for you

Wolf Like Me by TV On The Radio

Say, say my playmate
Won't you lay hands on me?
Mirror, my melody
Transfer my tragedy

Got a curse, I cannot lift
Shines when the sunset shifts
When the moon is round and full
Gotta bust that box, gotta gut that fish

We could jet in a stolen car
But I bet we wouldn't get too far
Before the transformation takes
And blood lust tanks and crave gets slaked

My mind has changed
My body's frame but God I like it
My hearts aflame
My body's strained but God I like it

My mind has changed
My body's frame but God I like it
My hearts aflame
My body's strained but God I like it

Charge me your day rate
I'll turn you out in kind
When the moon is round and full
Gonna teach you tricks that'll blow your mongrel mind

Baby doll, I recognize
You're a hideous thing inside
If ever there were a lucky kind it's
You, you, you, you

I know it's strange another way
To get to know you
You'll never know unless we go
So let me show you

I know it's strange another way
To get to know you
We've got till noon here comes the moon
So let it show you, show you now

I'm a fan of the "Law of the Jungle" leading into "Welcome to the Jungle". The problem was the execution last year was subpar. It shouldn't be too expensive to hire a professional voice actor to read a poem. Also, I think it's cool when stadiums have nicknames, and calling Carter-Finley "the Jungle" would be pretty sweet.

But this is NC State we're talking about, so it's hard to get my hopes up when it comes to marketing.

Well, there's the song, and the Kipling poem... Do you need qualifications? Is Ben Hill Griffin literally a swamp?

I'm pretty sure I'm not trying to say that Carter-Finley Stadium isn't in a jungle, so it shouldn't be called the jungle. And I'm pretty sure the reason Ben Hill Griffin Stadium is called The Swamp is not because it's literally in a swamp. I am fairly certain that gators live in swamps and since their nickname is the gators, they adapted the name The Swamp for their stadium. Now if Wolves lived in the jungle, then I would be on board to call Carter-Finley Stadium The Jungle. Or if our nickname was the panthers, or any other type of jungle animal. But the jungle makes no sense.

The Forest would make more sense. Because wolves live in the forest and because carter finley has pine trees around it.

My train of thought was the exact same. But there aren't any cool songs or poems about forests. Might as well use something that has nothing to do with anything.

I don't think wolves feel comfortable in jungles. On the count they don't live there.
