I think a few were listed...
Here's what a quick google search gave me:

I don't frequent photo blogs because everyone seems to have their own idea of what they consider a good photo. To each their own. 12/10/2008 9:49:58 AM |

Woodfoot, that is an awesome moment you got in that last photo. I like the composition. The light kinda sucks, but there isn't much you could have done about that.

i could have walked around the crowd and gotten him with the sun facing him
but the crowd was crazy and my friend wasn't even watching the dancing santa, so i'm sure she wouldn't have waited for me to fight through the crowd for another couple shots... 12/10/2008 10:44:34 AM |

I think this was brought up a few posts ago. HD Backup on the fly. Saw this product in my RSS feed and thought I'd pass it on.

Just found out that there's a huge defect in the new Canon 5d mkii's. Image quality suffers from an odd black pixel formed in the highlighted spots of small light sources if you are shooting ISO200 and above. It's all over FM, POTN, and Dpreview.
http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=609860 http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1032&message=30222755 http://www.istockphoto.com/forum_messages.php?threadid=80676&page=1 http://www.usa.canon.com/uploadedimages/FCK/Image/REVERIE%20Still%20Photos/Vincent_Laforet_5D_MKII_MG_0403.jpg
The fix should come in an updated firmware, but Canon hasn't said when or if there's even a fix in the works, but it's assumed. 12/10/2008 10:31:06 PM |

Camera was just delivered!
Now my dumbass forgot to order a CompactFlash card online, so I need to find one retail before I get home.
I can probably live with a 2GB card for the time being, how important is the MB/sec spec? I would guess it to be more important for Continous shooting mode, and not as important otherwise.

My mother doesn't understand photography. She says things like 'well, just email me some high DPI pictures tonight to [something, details, blahblahblah]' Whenever I try to explain even just some basics like aperture and exposure, she stops me, tells me i'm confusing her, and to not bother She refuses to acknowledge that there are just some situations where she can't take the pictures she wants with the camera she has. She will crop (well, used to, with her old camera) pictures from a 1.3MP camera down to a third of their original size, print them at 8x10, and bitch about how shitty the camera must be, because the pictures look like shit. She thinks she should be able to take pictures as fast as her camera is able, all the time
I'm trying to give her 'instructions' (per her request) for how to use my D50 (she's got a canon S5) in a low-light situation tonight, and she keeps saying JUST PUT IT ON AUTO AND GIVE ME DIRECTIONS. Oh, by the way, will it automatically adjust for telephoto?
When things don't work how she wants them to, she gets very impatient, and frustrated, very quickly, and lashes out at anyone who tries to help her or explain.
I already told her 'look, I feel like shit and I can't go tonight' before I Started thinking about this, and the more I vent about this, the happier I am that I feel so terrible. Dreadful event + bad music + unknown conditions + uppity parents + my mom being an asshole? No.

Sucks -- I know my parents would do their best to sit down and understand...at least my mom.
My dad, on the other hand, explained a good deal of basic photography to me. He still uses an Olympus OM2 SLR from the '80s for some of his architecture photos. 12/11/2008 3:30:26 PM |

It's hard to explain anything to people who are used to P&S cameras. I think it's because they get lazy and just want to take a picture instead of doing any leg work like paying attention to focusing, lighting, background, etc.
I use my P&S for vacation or just quick random pictures but if I want crisp pictures that I can print, crop, orwhatever I use my DSLR. I wish I started taking pictures with film though first. My best advice came from those that started with film. They understood patience and being meticulous in setting their shots. Unlike me who takes 100+ shots of my daughter playing in the yard. 12/11/2008 4:02:34 PM |

I can't tell you how many people come in to print pictures and get shit because they're doing things their camera just cannot do and then blame it on the lab.
Or people who you tell to check their crop zone because different sizes may cut off some information and they still want to know why the head was cut off of some people. It's like they expect the picture to expand into the right ratio for the size they want.
And forget explaining it, most people just don't get it. 12/11/2008 4:32:47 PM |

As far as I can tell the cameras seem to be about $100 to $200 less than anywhere else but any of the accessories seem to be crazy expensive.
Seems like a pretty good deal for just the body+lens. 12/12/2008 7:34:42 PM |
