I think you see this a lot. Coaches jump from tiny schools to mid-majors to high-majors. Winthrop is a tiny-ass school. I would be surprised if someone said "hey, you can make the NCAAT at Winthrop, so we here at Kentucky wanna give you a shot!"

^^ To be fair, I don't think WF even conducted a search. Bzdelik was a pure cronyism hire. And yeah, in all honestly he hasn't been setting the world on fire at WSU, but he's been consistently winning and improving. Not as flashy as making one big run to the FF, and that's probably why he's stayed under the radar.

it's hard to say, grant got something like 1.8 mill from bama but he finished 1st in conference 3 years in a row (regular season), had two conference tournament championships, and 2 ncaa appearances. shaka has a final 4 but hasn't finished better than 4th in the regular season.

i'd say something like 1.5-2 mill with incentives, something like 500k for acc championship (tourney or regular season), 250k for sweet 16, additional 250k for elite 8, additional 500k for final 4, and an additional mill for a championship?

i'd say a theoretical national championship is worth at least 2 million

My point (which still stands) was Gregg marshall was available for many many coaching vacancies and had made more than enough noise during his stint at Winthrop for teams like to be very interested. For some reason they all fucking passed. Yeah I really believe that his personality issues are all made up
