I can't understand why "negative recruiting" is so bad in this case. I get that it's probably really frustrating to recruiting against that because you are forced to defend your reputation rather selling your program. And considering this stuff went on before Fedora was hired, I can understand his frustration with it. But that doesn't mean it is wrong. Several investigations have proven the academic fraud allegations true. So what is wrong or underhanded about telling a recruit "hey if you care about your education then UNC is not the best place for you"? How is that different than saying "if you care about winning championships then UNC is not the best place for you"? If it's a factual statement, why is it off limits? I get it if other coaches are just making shit up...but this is not the case at all.

Basically...they blatantly cheated for two decades and got caught and don't want anybody to bring it up because it might hurt their reputation.

I don't know the ins and outs of a recruiting pitch. But I feel like NCAA violations and two decades of widespread academic fraud aren't something that should be off limits for an opposing coach to bring up. Like I said earlier, if it was all conjecture and hearsay, then yeah - that's pretty weak and low. But this is all factual stuff.

I remember hearing him in an interview the other day being asked about how he sells our program and what he says about other schools. He basically said he doesnt negative recruit, but if a guy is trying to make a decision he doesnt see any problem in telling them the facts about the two schools to prove our point that we are a better fit.
