We're thinking about starting an Omaha 8/stud hi/li split game. It'll be relatively low limit since almost nobody is comfortable playing those games, but at least it'll be something different.

you know i'd play either game before i leave if the limits are low enough... I'm really sick of hold 'em.

Tho I'm more sick of not having a legit roll.

This was a funny little sequence, showing a good time for the massive preflop raise.

There were a couple of hands prior to this where this guy was making typical maniac bets and not getting called. This was a good example of such, which happened to be the hand right before I got involved:

Texas Hold'em $1-$1 NL (Real Money), #420,686,715
Table Yunghu, 28 Apr 2006 10:53 PM ET

Seat 1: 1 out plz ($150.40 in chips)
Seat 2: forever30 ($19.10 in chips)
Seat 3: aatinylion ($48.50 in chips)
Seat 4: evli0301 ($292.25 in chips)
Seat 5: FaetterGuf ($123.50 in chips)
Seat 6: Manchy101 ($72.75 in chips)
Seat 7: star.fish ($108.70 in chips)
Seat 8: mland117 ($89.10 in chips)
Seat 9: Two-Shoes ($151 in chips)
Seat 10: noidroid ($93.60 in chips)

ANTES/BLINDS
evli0301 posts blind ($0.50), FaetterGuf posts blind ($1).

PRE-FLOP
Manchy101 folds, star.fish folds, mland117 bets $15, Two-Shoes folds, noidroid folds, 1 out plz folds, forever30 folds, aatinylion folds, evli0301 folds, FaetterGuf folds.

SHOWDOWN
mland117 wins $16.50.

SUMMARY
Dealer: aatinylion
Pot: $16.50
1 out plz, loses $0
forever30, loses $0
aatinylion, loses $0
evli0301, loses $0.50
FaetterGuf, loses $1
Manchy101, loses $0
star.fish, loses $0
mland117, bets $15, collects $16.50, net $1.50
Two-Shoes, loses $0
noidroid, loses $0

So the next hand I pick up aces in MP after our guy opts to limp instead of the ole 15x BB PFR, and I decide now is one of the few good times for a 10x BB PFR of my own.

I was hoping one of two things would happen:
a) the maniac goes nuts and uses this hand as an excuse to push all his chips in like he's been trying to do.
b) some other spectator looks down at a marginal hand and decided that this PF action is getting ridiculous and it's time to make a stand.

Both things happen at once, sorry in advance for the shitty pokerroom hand history format but you should be able to follow.

TURN [board cards 8C,7S,7C,10S ]
mland117 bets $20.60 and is all-in, noidroid calls $20.60.

RIVER [board cards 8C,7S,7C,10S,9D ]

SHOWDOWN
mland117 shows [ 9S,10D ]
noidroid shows [ AC,AS ]
forever30 mucks cards [ AH,KH ]
noidroid wins $143, noidroid wins $56.80.

SUMMARY
Dealer: evli0301
Pot: $201.80, (including rake: $2)
1 out plz, loses $0

mland117, loses $90.60
Two-Shoes, loses $0
noidroid, bets $90.60, collects $199.80, net $109.20

After all the cards were out, I was sure I was beat because that board was just stupid enough for the maniac to crack my aces. But luckily he just made three pair with his mighty 10-9o(mighty enough to limp-reraise my huge PFR anyhow) and I took it down.

I love maniacs.

You know you're having a bad night when you finally pick off a guy moving in preflop with his 10,5 offsuit and you flip over JJ and then the flop comes 10 7 10

I swear, sometimes I feel like being decent at poker means nothing.

i let my brother play with my stars account and he busted what i had left so my online career is over for a while. but that $65 deposit lasted like 4 months and quite a few netteller withdrawls. the fees on their debit card are insane btw.

Yeah, in the primetime hours of the night they start up pretty often. It's funny, after the first hour of that tourney there's usually only about 65 people left or so. It's like about 100 of them are just juicing up the prize pool. I'm not complaining though!

I have a question about the "Sidebet" option on party poker. It says it pays 8 to 1 if the flop is all 1 color.

When you win($1 bet), you get $8 plus the initial $1 back right??? Or do you just get $8? If someone can confirm this, I will post a question I have about it.

assuming PP's sidebet works the same way, where is my math wrong?

If both cards in your hand are Red, and you make a sidebet on the flop being black.

Card 1 * Card 2 * Card 3
(26/50) * (25/49) * (24/48) =
.52 * .5102 * .5 = .13265

If your payout is 8 to 1 or .125. Seems like the odds to get the flop are better than the odds.

What am I missing?

I would assume you have to make the sidebet prior to the deal so you have no information about "dead cards."

sorry about missing tww tournament last night, i spaced and forgot about it. =(

but on a side note, i finally had that perfect storm of the right table and getting great cards at a cash game last night.

for example. those that like to play with me a bit know that i like to straddle and i like to stradle everytime around the table.

heres the big one.

i stradle out for $9 utg, and get 3 callers. i look down and see Ad Ac. w00t.

i pump it up $35 more, guy calls with like $300 behind, girl calls with like $25 more left.

flop comes Kd 2s 6c.

i check, guy bets out $50, girl is all in, i raise all in. i have him covered by a few hundred.

he goes into the tank for a while, and calls with KQ. she has A6

AA holds up.

on stradle hands i had AA, KK, AJ on a flop of JJQ agaisnt AQ, and A8 vs AJ on a 88J flop.

running g000000t

its nice to finally cash out like 840 when you bought in for 145.

ahaha

So I check my bodog account for the first time since i cashed out a month ago and see that i have about 13 bucks left. I was pretty stoked. I sat at a 12+1 (6 max), and basically floated around between 800-1200 chips until there were 4 left. Get dealt 10s Qs in sb. Everyone folds to me, so I just call. BB raises as he has done the whole tournament so far. I call... flop: K4K. Everytime a flop pops like that, he has played on it. I call his 100 chip bet into a 120 pot. Turn: K, another 100 chips. River: 5. Looks like a blank for him, but he raises 350. I go allin for another 650 because I am pretty sure he aint got shit, of course he folds. Set me up big, haha.

Finally make it to heads up, and I am covered 3:1 but just happy to have some damn money. After jobbing around I get pocket 3s and push after his raise. He flips 55, FUCK!, but i was just happy to double up my cash by taking 2nd. Flop: 323, haha. Turn:5(oh shit) River: 4. Ended up wining the thing but felt guilty as hell for it. I beat his top boat

Ok, so I don't play well enough to make money often. But tonight I did. And it really bothers me that I spent 4 hours of disciplined, smart poker, just to have my kings cracked by big slick in the last hand of the game to put me back to just $30 up.

^^^ I did that once during a MTT satellite to a Party Super tourney($150+$fee) when we were on the bubble and I was in no danger of missing out on one of the many seats. I was talking on IM and I tried to click on that window as my poker table was coming up. I accidently hit the call button right after a bigger stack went all-in. I had A3o against his AA and bubbled. At first I just sat there in shock, then I started throwing stuff.

I don't talk on IM during poker anymore, nor do I surf the web. That was also back when I could only play one table at a time and would get bored, don't have that problem anymore
