Yeah, Mass Effect was really good too. It's built kinda like a shooter, but it's 60% how strong your guy is, 20% tactics and 20% aiming.

They are about $5 if that.
Its digital, so either you get a picture or you dont. You arent going to get less quality because you didnt buy the $70 Monster cable.

If you have a receiver and need your audio to go to it while your video goes to the TV, however, you will either need to buy the official Xbox HDMI cable, or "hack" the cable that came with your Xbox, since thats where the digital audio port is. I decided I didnt want a bunch of extra cables laying around for no good reason, so I did get the official cable, but on eBay for a little over $20.

Nice. Thanks man. I just wanted to make sure there wasn't a disparity in quality between the not-so-expensive ones and the really expensive ones.

I bought a Belkin 6 ft. HDMI from http://www.buy.com. All the reviews said the picture looked just as good as any Monster they tried out. Should be alright.

HDMI is digital, so in theory any cable would relay the same signal, just the same as any ethernet cord would bring you the same internet to your computer. HDMI cables are a ripoff. I mean I would not buy a cable for $5, in regard to the craftsmanship of the item, but I also would not pay more than $20 either.

I bought a cheap one for my HD cable box and I did not notice any difference from the component cable. The HDMI made channel changing take about 3x as long though, I took it out after a couple months.

Unless you have a LCD that is greater that 32 inches, and have a very high contrast ratio, the difference will be like have a dollar in fours quarters, or three quarters, two dimes, and a nickel - not much to make any difference. I tested it on my system and I definitely can see a difference.

when i came upstairs this morning to start playing gta4 again, my elite was going crazy. some of the lights (where the red ring is) were flashing, and others were going in circles, but were green. i originally thought a roommate had left my elite on over night and it had overheated, but now think there was a power outage (my pc was off as well). i tried to see if the 360 would work but it wouldn't go to the tv. i think it may just be worn out for the time being and i'll try again in an hour, but this is under warranty right?

might be your power supply...i had an original power supply and they sent me a replacement but i didnt hook it up cause the original was working fine...then one day i got some red rings and at the same time my lights started flickering...i thought my box was fried, but when i plugged up the new power supply everything worked fine

I'm sure this has been covered before and is more Tech Talk related, but is there ANYTHING I can do with games having part of the sides cut off in 720p and 1080i on my HDTV?

On my big screen DLP with 1080p I have no problems but in my room on my older CRT Sony HD it gets cut off. 480p works but it's a huge dropoff in clarity/brightness...

*** I'm guessing I need to find my TV (Sony KV30HS420) service manual and fix the overscan?

pretty sure thats an overscanning issue...my old crt hdtv used to do that, games and on hdtv...i never fixed it though

my new dlp doesnt seem to have too much of a problem though...definitely find the "service manual" or the code to get into the service options on the tv and you can mess with it

yeah NyM i have the same problem with my 1080i

my TV has a protective screen over it with some plastic tabs around the border...every now and then I'll have to adjust the convergence to see a score on the very bottom or very top of the screen but its not too bad...but with GTA, the tips in the top left get cut off, the instructions on the bottom middle get cut off, the weapon in the corner gets cut off...its frustrating, especially since I'm still learning the controls...I'll let you know if I come up with anything

So, can someone who has had the RROD elaborate as to what - if anything - happened before their system cacked out? Mine has been freezing up with no error messages lately, and it's becoming increasingly frequent. It's not any one game; it happens with all of them. I don't know if this is a symptom of impending RROD or not. If it is, can I speed up the process so I can go ahead and get swapped out, or do I just have to wait for it to die on its own?

yea mine started freezing up about a week before it died on me. apaprently its already been fixed and "shipped" back to me though UPS still wont tell me where its at yet. only thing is I have to be home to sign for it otherwise they ship it back or something.

Anybody ever had a problem with the RROD, shipping the 360 to Microsoft, and then they refuse to repair it? I can't help but be a little concerned about this after the broken conversation I had with someone at tech support yesterday. My first mistake was not hanging up and trying again so that I could get someone whose primary language was english. This guy told me that if they got my console and they didn't detect the RROD problem, they wouldn't repair it. I anticipated this and took pictures when mine bit the dust yesterday. I also still have the original box and store receipt from a little over a year ago. Something just makes me think worst case scenario when dealing with tech support.

But when i worked customer service at circuitcity, for a refund on something such a console, you are scanning around 3 different bar codes including the one physically on the 360 to verify that it is the same one. maybe you got lucky? idk

with the 360 all you have to do is remove the chassis and swap the insides. the serial for the 360 is on the plastic casing, not the actual unit inside. retail swapping is a real dick move but its easier than dealing with sending it back.
