I miss my 360.

Specifically, I miss shooting people in COD4.

"Rumoured Xbox Live Spring Update Details Emerge
From the mundane to the mega-tonne.
by Martin Robinson, IGN UK

UK, May 14, 2008 - A supposed feature list purporting to Microsoft's update for Xbox Live has emerged, detailing a host of revisions to the Xbox 360 service that range from the mundane to the potentially awesome.

Leaked to Kotaku, some cute additions include the option to download a gamer picture from a gamercard being viewed, and displaying the date that achievements were unlocked when comparing profiles. Of more import – and sure to get tongues wagging – is a feature supporting the calibration of motion sensor devices, adding further weight to the speculation that despite its frequent denials Microsoft is looking to introduce a motion control at some point in the future.

We've included the full list for your delectation, so scroll down at leisure and see what peaks your interest.

Xbox LIVE updates

• Option to delay sign-in to Xbox LIVE upon booting console (to allow user to set Online Status).

• Option to promote Child Account from Family Settings.

• Disallow Child Accounts (over 18) to override Family Settings by launching Privacy Settings through a title.

• Option in Family Settings for Child Accounts to enable child-oriented/non-mature advertisements.

• Introduce a group chat (4) for Private Chat and conferences through Video Chat.

• Support to indicate media being watched to gamercard status (video content from Marketplace only).

• Extend height for Bio field in Personal Profile, easier navigation through text.

• More fields present in Personal Profile - recent achievements, interests, games, movies, links, custom section.

• Compact Personal Profile for new fields (navigating to field will open it up).

• Mandatory option to delete duplicate titles from gamercard (excludes Games for Windows - LIVE). User disconnected from Xbox LIVE when booting any title until action complete.

• Option to remove payment information from gamertag.

• New payment methods for international users.

• Download History on Account Management better organized - games, genre, type, download date, miscellaneous.

• Long descriptions of items on Marketplace can be scrolled using right stick. thank god

• Better organization of free content on Marketplace.

• Option to 'ping' when testing connection.

• Disable changing of Theme when on Memory to prevent 'hanging'.

• Preload recent, limited items upon dashboard bootup on Memory.

• Faster loading of Themes section on guide.

Assassin's Creed thread is dead but I just started the game and I'm going to go ahead and put it down. I got by the first assassination and I can't imagine doing this eight more times. Maybe it'll get a little more difficult but I'm going ahead and setting it aside for Bioshock which I've put off too long.

its worth completing (assassin's creed).
and not a bad spoiler in that i wont tell you what happens, but...

its the 1st of a trilogy, and it opens a whole can of worms at the end.

I started Dark Sector last night and I think the game is pretty good. There are some issues with control mechanics at first but you get used to them. Its definitely a worthwhile rental.

Talk about a quick turnaround. I received notice that my 360 has been received and repaired/replaced already and is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow. I had no idea they'd be this quick about it. Perhaps that I included a copy of the receipt as well as photos of what it did when it bit the dust helped expedite things? I hope I get a new one and not just a repaired old one. Either way, it's gonna be shootin' time again, and not a moment too soon. I need my stress relief from the end of the school year chaos.

My 360 just died, it's not rrod though. Only 2 lights, which apparently indicates overheating.
Doesn't load anything at all when you turn it on, the 2 lights immediately start blinking and the fans are loud as hell. Hopefully this will be covered.

I always wondered how the warranty works. I bought mine last July of 07 but the date it was made was in 2006. did the warranty start when I bought it or when it was made?

Motherfuckers

I had the awesome gamertag BetterThanTits, and someone reported it. I went to BetterThenTits, and it was reported the next day. Now I'm using Raep Seed, but I don't really like it so hopefully someone reports it too and I can change it for free.

I might try to force an rrod, or just say its rrod and send it in, surely they don't actually troubleshoot the boxes they receive.

^ when u submit a ticket online it says they confirm that it is an actual RROD and that they will send it back unfixed if they cannot confirm a problem.

"New listings from the ESRB reveals that RBI Baseball may be on deck for an Xbox Live Arcade remake. According to the listing, RBI Baseball is to be published by Six Degrees Games, but the developer makes no mention of the game on its official web site, nor has the game been announced as an XBLA candidate.

The original RBI Baseball, for those who aren't familiar with the title, was published for the NES by Tengen and was based on the Famicom baseball sim Pro Yakyuu Family Stadium. Sounds almost perfect for casual online multiplayer baseball fun, no?"

It just dawned on me that after all this time, I've never attempted to use my MAS arcade joystick in conjunction with my XIM box so that I could play fighting games the way they were meant to be played. Fuck this control pad bullshit.

MAS Systems joystick

+
PI Engineering Y-Mouse Adapter

+
XIM v1.0 360 mouse & keyboard adapter (which also includes the piece of shit XFPS adapter and a standard 360 wired controller)

+
XIM controller interpretation software

=
arcade perfect control with an arcade joystick

It looks like a convoluted mess, but it does work perfectly. I just played a few rounds of Soul Calibur II to test it out. This makes me all kinds of excited for Street Fighter II HD to come out.

It was confirmed on the 3 Red Lights podcast on IGN a few weeks ago. I don't remember the exact reason and I'm too lazy right now to go find a link.

I just started using this service, but I noticed on their "supporters" page, they have a ton of gaming websites with podcasts

I haven't checked any of them out yet, but I'm planning on it.

Right now I subscribe to gamespot and ign podcasts

how long did it take you guys' boxes to actually arrive? i put in a order for them to send a box like tuesday and the repair site still says it hasn't been processed

i do find it pretty nifty that when you call the 800 number it tells you you already have a order placed and its status
