beat infamous last night...really fun game (not working right now so I had a lot of free time to play)...plenty long and lots of fun side missions. a little repetition, but no where near as bad as, say, assassin's creed (which I quit playing after about 15 hours of mind-numbing repetition)

i'd say replay-ability is going to be good for at least another full go-through. gotta play as evil this time

i think there were something like 40 main story missions and probably another 80 or so side missions

yes, there's a defensive shield you can form in front of you....it has 2 upgrades (restore energy and bigger size)

playing on normal difficulty, i rarely used it...mostly when trying to approach turrets from the front. but on hard i think it would be more important

thankfully, the enemies scale with you, so you're never severely overpowered

going to be a huge 12 months ahead of the PS3 by the looks of it

as far as the knocks on the PSP - I totally disagree. then again, I travel a lot. there have been some fantastic games for it and it's viability as a multimedia platform is second to none. i want to get my hands on a go to see the size of it - i may be moving onto my 3rd edition (I bought the original and the 2000)

i really want to know more about this rockstar exclusive. i'm guessing that's at least 2 years out if they only gave it a brief mention

I also didn't really care about the PSP stuff , and $250 is too much for a device without a touch screen. Motion control presentation was laughably bad, it's amazing the sort the wacky shit Sony and MS are coming up with to get around Nintendo's wiimote patents.

Loved the demo's for The Last Guardian, Uncharted 2, and God of War III. GT5 looked great but it needs a release date already. Also need to hear more about the Rockstar exclusive and FFXIV. Is it an all out MMO or an action RPG?

Yeah I thought that trailer was actually pretty moving....maybe because as a kid I had a hard on for Neverending story and Falcor, who is the obvious inspiration for that creature....but the whole way they put together the sequence of video and music was just pretty overwhelming. I can't wait for it.

Although I must say - that team needs to work on their camera control. I loved Shadow of the Colossus but felt the camera was freaking awful and it pissed me off trying to handle it.

^I had gamefly back around October or so and the turnaround was terrible imo. About a week in between sending a game back and getting the next one. Took about 3 days for them to get it, then they processed and shipped back out on the same day and took another 3 days or so. Keep in mind they don't process on Saturdays and no mail on Sundays and its pretty bad. It sucks for us in NC because the shipping centers are in Philadelphia, Texas, Florida, and California I believe so there is nothing even remotely close to us.

Also a tip: If you are attempting to get a newly released game on there you should put the game in your queue and then delete everything else in your queue. The reason for this is that it forces them to send you that game before others because there is no other option for them to send you. If you have it at the top but other games in your queue 90% of the time you are getting the game that has been out the longest, even if its in the 7th or 8th slot in your list.

i've been playing my PS3 on my regular tv with just the red/yellow/white cables...

when i hook it up HDMI to my HDTV, will it automatically detect that and display at the highest resolution? Will i be able to tell a noticable difference with the games?

you will have to hold down the power button when you first turn the system on after connecting to HD. You will hear the normal beep then a series of like 2-3 quick beeps. That should reset the video connection.

Then it'll take you through a quick couple setup menus and you'll be on your way.



Yes, you will notice a big difference in game quality. and even more so if you have surround sound.
