I'm not much of a techie, so admittedly, I havent searched the 93 pages of this topic to see if this has been asked yet...
My Droid Incredible wont sync to Exchange as of late. I went in to manual sync it, and they all pop up as:
"There were some socket errors when connecting to the server"
anyone know if this is a Droid problem, or if this is something to take up with the sys admin.
Thanks. 12/23/2010 4:24:01 PM |

If your sys admin updated to Exchange 2010 SP1, there is an issue with Android syncing after SP1 but i honestly don't know what the error you see is. So this could be unrelated. However, I would check with your sysadmin and see if they recently installed SP1. Google has identified this issue but it's possible the carriers haven't released an OTA for this. If he didn't change anything server side, then umm, idk. Sorry. 12/24/2010 7:04:18 PM |

so who uses winamp?
I love it, but my big issue is if I hit the home button while it's playing the app closes and the music stops.
I looked through the options, but I can't figure out how to play it in the background. Who knows what I'm doing wrong? 12/25/2010 8:49:02 PM |

I'm beginning to notice that my OG Droid is becoming slow when reloading the home screen. For instance, when finishing a phone call, it takes a second or two before all of the home screen icons reappear. All programs and apps run quite well, but it's just the home screen refresh which is slow. I'm still running stock Froyo, and don't have anything big soaking up memory. Anything I might do to help speed up the refresh pace? 12/26/2010 1:43:39 AM |

is it them or samsung that is at fault here? Because plenty of other phones have gotten 2.2, on all networks, yet none of the galaxyS's have gotten it. I have an Epic and I'm still waiting- secretly hoping that they are just going to have some super patch and skip 2.2 all together and go straight for gingerbread or whatevre it is called 12/26/2010 8:17:22 AM |

wrt winamp... i like poweramp better because it has better overall system integration, more tweaks, and better file/music management. worth the 5 bucks or whatever it was, IMO. 12/26/2010 12:18:20 PM |

btw, after wiping & unrooting my phone, upgrading to 2.3.34, and starting fresh so to speak, my droid x is running incredibly fast and smooth. this is after loading all my apps back and re-rooting. i'm not sure all the reasons for this, but i'm very happy with my phone, whereas it was constantly crashing just a few weeks ago. i am sure it is not the fact that i upgraded, but that some other core functionality was screwed up somehow which was fixed with a wipe.
Jrummy16's Droid Overclock is somehow much better than my previous overclocking app... i'm able to go higher and with more stability... i suppose it just tweaks things better with the default presets.
incredibly happy with this phone now. i really see no reason to upgrade any time soon.
if anyone is stuck at 2.2 and wants the simplified steps that works for me to get to 2.3.34, let me know and i'll post here. 12/26/2010 12:30:34 PM |

What doesn't work: Accelerometer Mounting SD card Browser seems to crash when using 3g but works perfect on WiFi.

And side note, who was the idiot that decided the location of the charging port? You can't use the kickstand and charge with the phone horizontal. 12/29/2010 8:20:08 AM |
Prospero All American 11662 Posts user info edit post |
It's called a dock (assuming it has a dock). If you want to charge and use a phone horizontally, either use the dock, or hold it in your hands. It's in the same place as any other Droid phone (aside from the Evo 4G). If you put it on any other side it wouldn't be the right orientation in the dock. Although with 2.2's ability to rotate either direction, I can see your point.

The droid doesn't have a kickstand either. And why spend extra money on an overpriced media dock when the phone has a kickstand. The evo, fascinate and numerous others work perfectly fine with the charging port on the top or bottom] 12/29/2010 3:31:57 PM |
Prospero All American 11662 Posts user info edit post |
I actually really like the media dock for the Droid1 ($20), I don't have to worry about knocking over the phone when I hit the alarm in the morning. With a cord sticking out the side (when horizontal) and a small kickstand, I can hardly see how those phone stay upright. I guess I'm just not a fan of the kickstand, just seems cheap.

yeah I had the dock for the Droid and liked it. Didn't by one when I bought the Fascinate since I thought the phone just looked weird on it. Ended up getting a cheap $10 iPhone/iPod touch stand from walmart. Would be nice not having to plug it in all the time but works fine. 12/29/2010 3:43:40 PM |

Still haven't figured this out and since it was the last post, I'm going to try again:
Quote : | "I'm getting ready to throw my fucking Dx into a lake. Searching finds a bunch of people trying to change addresses but no solutions.
First, I'm using a Droid X on 2.2.1 (latest update 2.3.340 or whatever).
Yesterday I did a factory reset. When the phone came back up, I tried to set everything back up. I have 2 Google Accounts that I use with my DX (1 work & 1 personal). I entered my personal account first and then my work account. Once I finished, Android market refused to give me any of my apps back (including charging me for one that I had already purchased). I waited for 6 hours and then did another reset. This time I set up my work account first. Now all of my appscame back with no problems. The problem is that my personal account is my Checkout account. I've never used my work address for Checkout. Now it prompts me to enter a credit card to purchase new apps. I can't find a single way to change which account Market associates with (this is basic functionality Google!!!) and I'm stuck not being able to download new apps.
Cliff notes: Correct primary address (personal) ends up with no apps but correct Checkout account (previously used). Incorrect primary address (work) ends up with all apps but wrong Checkout account (never used)" |

still waiting on that walkthrough for upgrading to 2.3.340. i think my problem is i deleted the 3g hotspot app, which is mynet.apk. i've redownloaded it, but it just says "application not installed" after going through all the steps. any thoughts? 12/30/2010 12:06:39 PM |
afripino All American 11425 Posts user info edit post |
^first off, you need to download the full SBF for 2.2 and install it using RSDLite. Then do an OTA update (might have to activate your phone first to get data working) to 2.3.340. Then re-root and install a new ROM with Clockwork Recovery. That's what I did yesterday.

Download Handcent SMS from the market and give it a try. It offers a lot more customization settings than stock android (reminders, security, custom contact notifications, etc) and doesn't seem to have the mass text deletion or routing problems of the stock client. Just make sure to go into the stock messaging app and turn off notifications in Options so you don't get duplicate notifications anytime you get a message. 1/1/2011 12:20:54 PM |

I have no idea how AOSP stock messaging is, but there's really no reason for me to switch off the stock Blur messaging app. Sure handicent has more features, but I don't really need them and like the added speed of not having the extra space taken up on the phone. Of course that's not an issue for you 2.2+ users out there with more powerful phones, and won't be when i get my olympus.1/1/2011 10:55:07 PM |

haha it is crap compared to modern phones. The difference between performance with 51 MB free on the internal storage and 49 is HUGE.
and that difference is a result of moto getting REALLY lazy when they wrote the code for the 2.1 update.
