Honestly, if you are not playing 3 tables, you are doing yourself wrong.

If you currently play 1 table of .10-.25, drop down and play 3 tables of .05-.10. Or whatever, you get the idea. You will probably get a better return.

i play online tourneys at home during the week because i can relax and play my online tourney game, which is very methodical. Not to mention 1/2, i mean even lets say you triple up for the night, I only make like 400 bucks for like 6 hrs, and im dragging ass the next day at work, really $67 an hour isnt worth that. I can make 1/2 that an hour at work when im not dragging ass and idiots dont have a direct impact to that amount.

but i saw this

Quote :

and have to say, david, ive played with you too a few times

i was wicked passive-tightie then, who was really really bad.

AC was wacky, got back tonight. interesting to be down to my last 300, and back to over 2k within like 3 hours.

if i oculd only stay away from the craps table, poker alone would have made nearly 1.5k profit, but alas.

(and the strange thing was, i was down 500 in limit games, but up the other amount in no limit cash games 2/5 with one 1/2 session, and i really dont like no limit cash games.)

when im playing as ultralag as can be and im catching cards, watch out, stories to come.

nick "the takeover" shulman was at the trop, playing 3k/6k HU mixed games, and apparently was down quite a bit. like, around 200k. apparently it was on the tail end of a 3 day session with some guy who had a 1/4mill brick of 100's in front of him, along with all of his (and nicks apparently) 1k, 5k, and $500 chips.

tommorow, ill post some hands for comment and other stories, like a guy who jumped up on top of a craps table, and started yelling at everyone in the room

So I just played my first MTT on full tilt, and I'm not sure I liked the structure. The blinds/antes go up quick as you get deep. Several players were pre-flop all-in happy too, as compared to other sites I've played on (it was a $10).

I did manage to reach the final table as 2nd shortest stack, only to finish 9th when my QQ lost to AQ.

What do you all think of Full tilt's tourneys?

Double post, boo....

Anyway, In an effort to steer the conversation back in the right direction, let me post a hand from ^said tourney that's been on my mind to get some opinions....

There's ~25 people left (so we're in the $) and I am in 2nd place in chips with 37k, and just won a big pot to get to it. Blinds 600/1200 with 150 ante, 7 players at the table

In the BB i get 77

There is a player who since coming to the table (and subsequently thereafter) was either all-in or fold, no in between. He pushes here with just over 13k. At this point, this is about the 3/4th time he's done this, and noone has called him yet.

What do you do?

The pot is: 13000 + 1200 + 600 + (7*150) = 15850

75% 2 overs 50-50
10% Overpair 80-20 dog
10% Underpair 20-80 fav
5% Over/Under Bluff 33-66 fav

(rough numbers)

If you put him on roughly that set of hands, you would need to get even money to call(which you always have), but not knowing the range he has been plaing, it is hard to throw percentages on his hand.

Personally, I would fold and wait for a better hand, he could easily be pushing with 99 then you are statistically in trouble. Someone will snipe him off and you can continue to be 2nd stack and move up the pay ladder.

But the other side of this argument is, you are 2nd, if you put him on 2 overs, call and take the coinflip to try and build a stack. I know a lot of people play this strategy because the final 5 pay a lot better than top 20. I PERSONALLY wait for a better shot at him. But I am not the perfect tourney poker play, but I do ok.

Assuming he wasn't pushing all in 90% of the time I would just fold. If he is pushing all in every time then he has somewhere to be and is just looking to make a big exit....or drunk.

Yeah, I figured I'd played with you at some point or another pilgrimshoes since you seem to be like one of the only other few good players on here that can even tell the difference between a straight and a flush.

Sean- you have to make that call. Since he has been pushing all the time, you can put him on any face card or any ace. His second card could be anything. So he most likely has one over, but with your chip stack, you have to make that call. Was he ever called after this hand, and did you see what he was calld with?

David- what IS the difference between a straight and a flush? honeslty, i get them confused.

Wow, and I thought I was an ass for no reason. Until you are Turner and doing this shit for a living, you're still a small fry in the pool bossman. You need to take a few days to let your head deflate some.

Straight - A hand composed of five cards of consecutive ranks.

Flush - A hand in which all five cards share the same suit.

Remember linoleum24, thats all the same suit, not all the same color. Don't bet your life savings of $100 just because you get five red cards in your hand.

sean, you see why he is doing this right?

he absolutely has to, due to his stack size. he cant just raise, and try and get away from something. he has no play here but all in. he has dropped down to only a few rounds of play left, and its bust or build at that point. he is in the red zone so to speak.

you have to call there really with a pair, no questions. if he wins, he wins, but you are letting go of quite a bit of equity by not calling here. i dont have my equity calculator on this computer, but ill do some ranges for you when i get home.

ESP. if he has been doing this frequently, his range is huge. HUGE.

if you arent playing tournaments for top three finishes, you are playing tournaments passive as hell, and passive is bad. even if you have a phenominal ITM % of like 15%, if you continue to play tournaments like this, it is impossible to sustain a long term ROI that is positive. end game aggression is a huge key.

just think. you are putting in like 11k chips to win 27kish. (or a net win of 16k)

against a random holding, which we can put him on here, you are like 55% ish. you are getting a bet with about a 1:1 chance of winning, but getitng 1.45:1 tcEV on calling.

remember, it doesnt matter what he has here, what matters is the range we put him on.

meh.

[Edited on May 17, 2006 at 11:02 AM. Reason : e]

other things are important in this hand also.

how has he seen you play?

have you been folding to BB steals?

what is his position?

what is the SB's chips stack?

are we on a bubble?

etc. etc, they all take effect in the decision

Hand 1 from AC:

background: I'm playing ultra-ultra laggggggggg.

1/2 nl, bought in for 300, have been raising to 12 about 3 times an orbit. it seems to the table its much more than that, im talking quite a bit too. kinda drunk, but still solid enough to make moves. Table is typical AC 1/2 cash game. 3 guys who appear to be chasing the whole way down, only to fold on the end when they miss their draw, couple of young guys who think they are really good, but arent. One kid who asked when the blinds went up, so umm, yeah. A solid kid who I have been talking to for a while, table is kinda shallow which is ultra dissapointing. I think it may have been a rather new table, no one had a stack. when i bought in for the max, i became the big stack at the table, which sucks.

Table is very possible just to railroad with large bets. this is great.

The table probably sees me as a bit of a maniac gambler, but well see. It always creates an interesting situation when you sit down at a table, and get change from a stack of $500 chips in your pocket down to the max buy of 300. the table does notice this, and it seems to liven up the table a bit. Also, when im in total action monkey zone, the table loosens up termendously. The only action the table has seen me involved in was with raising early with middling unsuited connectors, and having to show down bottom two, for the win. My raises have already become unrespected, which is nice. I like to be able to bump it up, and have a pot already worth winning on the flop with a simple c-bet.

so anyways, on to the hand. im in seat 10, next to the dealer, which i despise. seat 1 is a pretty typical new jersey mid 20's hot headed dude. you know the type. spiked hair, necklaces and fake gucci glasses. cool guy. i start with about $500 in chips, and the aforementioned image. Ive pushed this guy off of hands probably 2 or 3 times in the past hour, hes probably fed up with it.

I get 7d9d UTG, lean over to the dealer (who is one of my favorites, and recognizes me from my playing there) and tell him "this hand is really going to piss someone off"

"ok, well see"

"bump it up!" i raise to $12. i love 1/2 and its ridiculous pfr's.

seat 1 (that guy) calls.
4 other callers (gotta love the 5 callers of a 6xBB raise )

6 way action for $72

flop comes out 8d 2d Ks

sb, bb check, i check, NJ bets out $35 (wtf). folds around to sb, who calls.

"bump it up!" i pop it up to $145, a raise of $115. I know he is not calling on a flush draw.

as im putting out the raise i think im an idiot.

guy has about $140 left in his stack after his $35 bet. SB has about the same. SB is obvoiusly not calling, has uncovered hsi cards, ready to throw them in.

eh?
