^^^OS 3.0 added profiles (at least I think it wasn't there in 2.x.x
basiclly when you click on this http://help.benm.at/help.php using your iPhone...you select the option to create an AT&T profile which basically just adds the AT&T settings for tethering.
It doesn't hurt anything else on your phone except maybe your bill if you use it a lot...but no one knows if that will even happen.

I used google's caldav info, along with my userid and password to try and sync my phone up, but only entries created by the actual gmail calendar show up. I feel like such a sucker. I preordered on Friday and the salesman told me mine would arrive in the next shipment. Well, I assumed that meant "next box of phones to arrive", instead of "next box to ship". Now I have an iPhone "reserved" somewhere, expected to arrive in 7-14 days, while the store gets new phones every day. They refuse to give me one of the phones in stock because "thats not how pre-ordering works". What a fucking crock 6/24/2009 4:14:38 PM |

Bill Nye Explains: The iPhone 3GS's Oleophobic Screen http://gizmodo.com/5302097/giz-bill-nye-explains-the-iphone-3gss-oleophobic-screen

I noticed today you can hold click on a link and open it in a new window. It's about damn time. Dunno if that's a 3.0 feature or 3GS exclusive. I would assume 3.0, but there's been a lot of weird little things that should be available on the regular 3G that aren't (like the battery percentage for example). 6/24/2009 7:08:19 PM |

wait what?
I still went ahead and got a screen protector. I don't like the invisible shields because they blur/distort the screen. Just went with static type you can pick up at the apple store. You can't even tell there's a protector on it unless you find the edges of it.6/24/2009 8:20:15 PM |

Ok i'm pissed. This is really annoying.
So under device (iphone) there's the summary tab. I had originally checked the "manually manage music and videos" because i have more music than can fit on my iphone.
So i go into the "video" tab and check "sync movies" because i want to sync a single movie i had on there. So i check sync, and check the movie. Then i sync it and i realize it's taking FOREVER.
Well i find out it's because if you check the sync box under videos to sync a single movie it automatically un-checks the "manually manage music and videos" box under summary, hence deleting all 20 gigs of music i had on my iphone.
This is a bug, or just annoying. Now i have to manually go back in and select all my music i want to put back on my iPhone.
There should at least be a warning saying, if you check "sync videos" it'll delete all your music.
^sorry reading too fast. The lack of the " ' " made me think 3gs. Long day.

anyone noticed this on fw 3.0 (or maybe it's 3GS specific)?
When you click the headphones to pause the ipod, it used to go into standby (you could hear the faint click) after a few minutes unless you started the audio back up. Once it had shut off like this, you had to turn the screen on to get the audio started again.
Now, it doesn't seem to ever really go into this 'standby' mode. I've tried sitting there on pause for a few minutes, but no matter how long I wait a single click on the headphones brings the audio back.
It's kinda nice, but it also has me a little worried that the audio circuitry is draining my battery while it's paused. So if I put something on pause and forget about it, my battery would be draining the whole time until i do something else with the phone.
