reading this proposal to "stop teaching history b4 1877" in NC public schools. I'm not seeing that they're saying "stop teaching it" but reading focus more on after 1877 in later HS courses and pre 1877 has been covered in middle to early HS.

and what I remember of US History in HS was she blew through the pre-1776 and following the RW anyway, then started focusing more on the Civil War, then really delved into WWI, WWII, and Vietnam...we only barely touched on the 80s b4 the end of the year
