Quote :
"It is incredible how this team just turns on the switch in October. The bullpen was complete garbage all season and now they are like unhittable. Must have a golden horseshoe stuck up someone's ass on that team."

To go along with Boobs, Motte and Boggs were solid. The bridge guys to them were struggling. Scrabble sucked all year wasn't even getting lefties out. Salas had rough times. Now that Carpenter is back, it moved Joe Kelly, to the pen. Adding Mujica, Kelly, and Rosenthal has made the pen a strength. Matheny can throw several guys that can hit 94+ on the radar: Motte, Boggs, Rosenthal, Kelly, and Mujica. Not many teams, if any, have the power arms that STL does now.

Washington doesn't have guys that can throw 100 like STL. Rosenthal, Boggs, Kelly, and Motte are all 96-100. Clippard, Storen and Stammen are all 94-95 guys.

Beltran gets hurt and Matt Carpenter takes his spot and hits a 2 run HR. Seriously someone on the Cards has a horseshoe up their ass made from rabbit feet that is coated in gold and blessed by a Jewish rabbi.

Honestly I am just jealous that the Cards are the opposite of the Braves when it comes to the postseason.

Yes it's all luck.

Carpenter hit .300 most of the year. Would start for a lot of teams.

[Edited on October 18, 2012 at 12:51 PM. Reason : 19 of the current 25 players on active roster were drafted by STL]

^^ Wow why are you so mad? I clearly put that I am simply jealous that my team is the anti-St Louis when it comes to the postseason. I recognize that this is not luck and is simply good management of the team putting the right pieces togther. I am rooting for the Cards as I cannot stand Buster Posey or Melky (even though he's not playing).

I'm rooting for the Tigers to win the whole thing just to see if Leyland suffers a stroke during the celebration.

If the Cards win the WS, it'll be the underdog story of the year

the Tigers have far superior pitching and hitting

This team doesn't die. It ain't over.

But, I would love to hear Joe Buck's homer ass cry the entire game.

2 head scratching moves this week.

Traded Skip, everything the Cards stand for, to the Dodgers for a bum AA shortstop.

Now today paid Ty Wigginton $5 million over 2 years. WTF was wrong with keeping Skip?

Bump. Where are all of you? 5-4 start but leading MLB in runs so far. Nice series win against the Reds after imploding in game one. Matt Adams is a star in the making too bad the NL doesn't have the DH. Kozma/Carpenter is working very well right with those two off to great hitting starts.

Really hoping that Motte doesn't need Tommy John. Boggs is not handling the 9th very well. I would try Joe Kelly there maybe but then you lose the long reliever. Boggs situation is very similar to Ryan Franklin, good setup man, just does not have the it factor to be a closer.

What's crazy is Motte is out, bullpen has been really shoddy, and Craig/Holliday/Freese aren't hitting.

Still in first. #12in13

If you watch them they seriously look like Pedro and Waino.

don't look now, but the Cards own the best record in the NL (and will be tied for ML best record as soon as the Red Sox lose)

good inning from C. Martinez today

^^Great time to be a Redbirds fan right now. Best rotation in MLB currently.

With Carlos Martinez (little Pedro) and Michael Wacha (little Waino) waiting in the wings.

Should be solid for years to come with the pitching and guys like Oscar Tavares coming up.

Rolling right along. Shelby Miller is a stud like projected and Matt Carpenter is raking at .335 in the leadoff spot with 5 homers.

Carpenter comes back to close and team becomes complete?

I'm very impressed with Matt Carpenter. I'd like to see him draw a few more walks, but the way he's hitting, who really cares?

Looks like Jake is rejoining the team this week

Is that Jibbles mom?

For reals though, Carpenter should be an all-star and Wacha looked pretty good again last night.
