HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO SAY THIS?!

It doesn't represent masturbation. It's intended to convey your disinterest, ambivalence, and lack of respect towards a certain topic, something you'd just write off. If something inspires you to say "big fucking deal," say it with the jerk-off smiley!

but you can say that with

a jerkoff smiley would be redundant. sort of like and . or and .
not that i don't think and are cute.

The smiley is most often used to indicate only sarcasm. Observe how different the two really are:

TEST CASE 1: STRAIGHT SARCASM

Quote :
"Wow, NCSUStinger's posts are really insightful. "

Quote :
"Wow, trapezius sure is even-tempered. "

TEST CASE 2: SARCASM + BEING LEFT UNIMPRESSED

Quote :
"Oh shit, let's all get down to Talley and sing the fight song! "

Quote :
"You're minoring in P.E.? That's so cool! "

RESULTS:

Test Case 1: Straight Sarcasm - is more appropriate

Test Case 2: Sarcasm + Being Left Unimpressed - holds its own, but wins out by bringing a little something extra to the table.

I STILL want a smiley with a straight line mouth, neither smiling nor frowning. To say "have a day."

I so feel Frosh's idea, I make that gesture all the time. Mostly in response to story's my friends tell me about someone who's a dick.

Quote :
"After I worked 15 hours cleaning the bathroom, John told me I should have used a different cleaner"

my response

only this smiley has well... a half smile. I'm usually rolling my eyes with a :-| kinda look.

The half-smile indicates the poster's smug sense of superiority.

I don't know who made it, but i think it'd be a great addition. Kind of a Tim Allen "eh?" little confused, little surprised.
