Cuz that other thread sucks and should be locked.

Yeah, there may only be like three other people who have a legitimate right to post here as fans, but I can depend on people like NyM410, BigPapa and moonman for some intelligent baseball talk.

I'm loving Hideki Matsui so far. Looks like he's gonna be huge this year. It saddens me to see Bernie declining too. He's been there for 15 years and even if he wasn't the strongest player, he had a strong presence.

I was THRILLED to see Tino back out there last night too. Donnie Baseball was always my favorite, but Tino earned my respect for the way he filled in for a Yankee legend basically.

Anyway, I'm pumped for this season, and I'm glad to see baseball back.

get your facts str8 my friend... RHODE ISLAND... in the middle of NEW YORK AND BOSTON..... most of the people who are from RHODE ISLAND were immigrants that originally lived in NEW YORK....... and guess what team everyone cheered for when they lived in NEW YORK?

That doesn't change the fact that you're still an idiot.

My facts don't need to be "str8."

And I've actually been to Rhode Island too, which you of course would not know since you don't know me. Not that that's stopping you from assuming all sorts of things about me seconds after you tell me not to do that about you.

I don't need to provide backup for "you're an idiot." You're doing that for me.

What do I NEED to back up? That I'm a Yankees fan?

No, I have no problem with you being a yankees fan. Thats great. The only thing that pisses me off is when I start a thread for Yankee fans to enjoy and soak up the victory over red sox ass and you have to be an asshole and knock it. So what if some fans are bandwagon fans!!! Comes with the territory of being the best baseball team in the history of the sport. Live with it!! All you have to do is smile and be glad that you're a yankees fan.... no need to be hurtful my friend.

Well that's fine...all I was saying is that it looks pretty dumb to celebrate ONE win when there are 161 games left.

Celebrating a win in August or Sept. when it's getting down to the wire, that's cool...I'm all for it.

But rejoicing over a game one win just seems kinda ridiculous to me.

Don't get me wrong...I'm pretty fuckin pumped to be 1-0 right now, but I was just trying to keep everything in perspective here.

In perhaps the least shocking news of the season, Kevin Brown was put on the DL yesterday afternoon.

I'm not a big Kevin Brown fan. But what can you do? Oh well.

I have a question. Why did Ruben Sierra start over Tino last night. I love Tino as a ballplayer (old school guy like Paul O'Neill) and don't see why Sierra would get the start. I know they said he is good against the Sox to justify it but I don't really understand that move.

If you mean last night, it's cuz Sierra has ridiculously good career numbers against Wells, and they wanted Giambi to get some work in at first really. That's my only guess.

You know how it works...they always play the numbers game. I would have thought Torre would start Tino at first and Giambi at DH just cuz it was Tino's first game back, but ya know...I haven't won 4 World Series rings, so I'll trust his judgement on this one.

I love Tino though...I'm glad he's back.

^^ he hardly struggled, ^ and the whole season too really

He definitely improved over his first season in both HRs and RBIs, and perhaps even BA, but I don't know that one off the top of my head.

And no not just on last night. He had a solid spring leading the team in HRs and while I hate basing anything on spring training, it's nice to see guys doing well.

I wanted to see matsui smile after leaping on the wall and catching the ball.... but he came down with it, threw the ball in, and despite everyone going crazy for him.... did even crack a grin. haha

Based on Yahoo sports it's 3-1 Yanks with 2 out in the bottom of the 4th with Womack on 2nd, Jeter on 1st and A-Rod about to hit.

WAY TO BUY THE DIVISION EVERY YEAR YANKEES.

how does it feel to know that everything you get, you get not because of hard work or a good farm system, but instead from throwing money at every "problem"?

^^^^^ ya know...when they won their 4 titles in 5 years, it WAS cuz of a good farm system.

They haven't won anything since they started signed big-time free agents.

And you can fault guys for playing by the rules. George knows it costs him in taxes to spend so much. He spends freely and he pays his taxes. So whatever.

So I feel fine, since you asked.

3-2 Yanks in the bottom of the 7th by the way

Yeah I have no doubt both the Yanks and Boston will have there share of these kinds of games this year.

^ that made me LOL...not cuz of the team's fortunes, but just the way you phrased it...haha. Oh and it's OK, cuz technically so did mine.

yea Matsui is def gonna step up this year for the yanks. you can see that just from his performance at the tail end of last season. he had improved drastically from the begininng of the season. Bernie is unfortunately gettin old and yea his performance has declined a lot. however, i think he is more of a moral support backbone than a physical backbone of the team. he has been through so much with the yanks and he continues to stick with them and they with him. but he is known for steppin up at times when the team needs him.

speakin to the choir..lol. i grew up with Donnie Baseball and i am so thrilled to see him as a part of the coaching staff wearing the uniform that made Donnie Baseball what it was and is. Tino is the freakin man and I'm so happy to see him back with the yanks. he honestly doesnt belong anywhere else and i think opening night with all the ovations he got every time at the plate proves exactly that.

i'm siked for this season, as i always am bein a yankee fan. cant wait to head home and get to some games this summer

Oh yeah man...I know I'm gonna be there Sept. 9 for Yanks-Red Sox. It's gonna be hard to get to more than that with work and all now.

But I'm so pumped to see #23 in the dugout...talk about a blast from my childhood.

Ha ha Rivera blew his second game already. That is funny considering he's the best fucking closer ever and averages like only 5 BS a year.

Mo just is off to a slow start. Same thing happened in 1997 and in 2000. Sometimes it takes him a little longer to get into things than other guys because he relies on movement to get people out, and a lot of times, pitchers dont have their best stuff early in the season.

By the way, i have a right to post here as well. Born in the bronx, die hard yankee fan. I've seen EVERY game since about 1995 without missing a single one. I have been to 8 playoff games and 3 world series games. My liscense plate is "NYY#1FAN" and my cat is named "Jeter."

BULLSHIT

no way in hell that after 10 years you haven't missed a single game. Not all the games are even on TV, then there are weekend games, double headers, and you have to have done SOMETHING other than sit down for 4 hours and watch baseball during on day of play.

BULLSHIT
