I never watched The State? Isn't it supposed to be the same cast?

Its very similar. The same is true of Wet Hot American Summer.

Hilarious early '90s sketch humor.

nice, i was wondering about that last night as i was watching a re-run.

As a refresher, season 2 ended with the entire department being suspended/fired, and they brought in those replacements who basically looked exactly like the original guys, right?
I'm guessing in the first episode or 2 they will find out that the DA was corrupt, and all the originals will be re-hired, or something.

Season One ended with Jones dying, but he was back in Season Two with no explanation. I doubt they'll even address the whole "everybody gets fired" thing.

Yeah. In the commercial I saw last night, they didn't even show the replacements.

jones dying?
i thought that was part of the halloween prank....

or actually, didn't jones "die" and dangle and someone else was in on the prank, then they pranked everyone except for Garcia, then jones laid back down again and Garcia came in and when Jones jumped up Garcia started shooting, then Trudy started shooting and everyone collapsed, then Jones got back up? I don't remember how they resolved that - seems like they let that one go....

Either way... Basically it's a running gag that they end the season with some huge cliffhanger event that sets up a major change in the status quo -- only it's completely disregarded for the next season.

Dangle (IIRC) woke up next to Bob Newhart. It was all a dream.

I just assumed the ending was a prank played on jones for playing the prank in the first place.

Ok so why is the old DA out to get them? And they were released from prison just because the old DA was found to be insane?

not that we need to get into an argument over the motives and realism of this ridiculously fictional cop drama..... but if the DA was found to have other motives and not be mentally fit to convict these people, they would be given another trial. And in this case, it's just an easy excuse for them to get out of jail

1st episode was alright. I'm sure it will get better. For some reason, I thought it was funny that Clementine decided to go on tour with Steely Dan and REO Speedwagon.

well they showed it 4 times last night, so i'm sure it will be on again before next week.

I agree - it was OK, not gold, but still pretty funny. It will get better once they all get back to their jobs as cops and are all together again.

I thought it was pretty funny when Jones and Garcia were messing with that kid in the mall.

^ especially since that was the same kind of thing that got them in trouble at the end of last season.

My favorite moment of the entire series was when Jones and Garcia dared the kid to jump his bike between the buildings.

"Don't call the paramedics! Then they'll know that we were here!"

I like when the landing gear fell off the helicopter.

Junior: "How's that thing gonna land?"
