Joss Whedon's Astonishing X-Men
7/27/2005 10:28:29 AM
Gotham By Gaslight wasn't too shabby.
7/27/2005 10:34:01 AM
I have read kingdom come and batman year one recently I still put Dark Knight Returns ahead of them. It really is a good read go pick it up!
7/27/2005 11:43:52 AM
I think Fables is really overrated.
7/27/2005 11:48:12 AM
Is there anything good that's coming out now?I bought some random stuff the other day and it was all teh suq.
7/27/2005 11:49:44 AM
Hellblazer's always good!
7/27/2005 11:56:33 AM
House of M has 4 issues out... It is pretty good. Batman & Robin All-Stars is out with jim lee and frank miller. how can you go wrong (However, only the first issue is out and it takes atleast two months for the second issue to come out)

I've been loving Fables. Then again, I don't really know what people are saying about it, so I dunno if it's overrated or not.]
7/27/2005 12:01:50 PM
I bought Lucifer cuz it's Vertigo and I really love biblical imagery and whatnot and it was just fucking pathetic.I enjoyed the first issue of Grounded somewhat, but I can't tell if it's supposed to be the comic version of Sky High or something. I dunno.
7/27/2005 12:07:11 PM
7/27/2005 12:08:22 PM
You really need to go back and read all of Lucifer from the beginning to enjoy it. Well, honestly you need to go back and read all of Sandman first, too. ;P
7/27/2005 12:13:51 PM
The thing with Lucifer is that there's this epic battle between heaven and hell, angels and demons going at it for the sake of the entirety of existence, and it looks at best like an goddamn barfight. There was no sense of majesty or importantce to it.Also, it seems like nobody has the early trades in stock. SO THERE.
7/27/2005 12:19:41 PM
it's funny because he doesn't have a dick
7/27/2005 12:20:47 PM

I'm ashamed you think Watchmen was that good.[Edited on July 27, 2005 at 3:35 PM. Reason : ]
7/27/2005 3:30:52 PM
^dude, we know that you don't like watchmen. you've said it in every thread where the topic comes up. I think it's outstanding. First time I opened it up and spent all night reading it until I was finished. I was that hooked. different strokes for different folks man.
7/27/2005 3:39:09 PM
I liked Watchmen! I just don't think it's one of the best comics of all time.
7/27/2005 3:43:27 PM
well, I mean, in my opinion, it definitely holds it's own with the frank miller books being mentioned. but like I said, different strokes.
7/27/2005 3:48:27 PM
To compare Dark Knight Returns to Watchmen makes me want to throw up
7/27/2005 9:22:35 PM

My personal favorite - Cable: Blood and Metal limited series, 1992. I absolutely LOVED Cable way back when nobody was really sure who he was and where he came from, and these books were the first glimpse you got into some of his backstory.I miss those days.
7/28/2005 12:41:06 AM
Cable, the original antihero with gigantic shoulderpads.Cable is what went wrong with comics.
7/28/2005 12:41:59 AM
For me its gotta be V for Vendetta, I just hope the movie does it justice.
7/28/2005 1:12:50 AM
i think i may be one of the few people who loves Batman, but cannot stand Frank Miller's interpretation of the character.oh, another one i wanted to mention was Marvels. the stories were decent, but the artwork was breathtaking. i've gotta put that up there.and i enjoyed Earth X (much more than the two that followed it)

Cable: What Went Wrong with Comics Created By A Comic Book Artist That Made Characters that Were/Are Unreadable.
7/28/2005 2:23:54 AM
I liked Cableand Shatterstarand BishopI think comics went south, for me, because of the comic community. no, i don't know the complete library of Daredevil like the back of my hands, but that doesnt mean you can talk to me like i'm an idiot when you're 37 years old and work in a comic store selling overpriced warhammer shit to 13 year olds.
