What's to convert??? Throw the following in the boat and consider it converted.

1. Gig
2. Pole
3. Cooler for fish
4. Cooler for beer
5. Battery
6. Clamp-on lights

Done.

ski/wakeboarding boats =

slow, and too twitchy ... but yes they can pull a stump off the bottom but honestly who cares the only reason one would need them is for slolom skiing cause you need power and no wake to do that... otherwise just get a deep v w/ a big block and a wb bar and a wake boarder will be happy

best thread ever... I like motor boats okay but my real love is with sailboats. i would love to build wooden boats. I like racing most, i think.

i've raced:
optimist
sunfish
laser
420
fireball
lightning
j-24

i'd say i like lightnings and fireballs the most

tho j-24 was fun too

I've been checking on building some boats myself. This is something like what I want to do first. Easy to trailer, can be launched from the surf, under motor power, or rowed.

We broke down (before the new motor) in the tarpon tourney 2 years ago, last day of the tourney. Called Tow Boat US. They towed us 26 miles back to the dock. We were damn near to Ocracoke. lollllll

He got us under tow, I checked the GPS...8 mph...hmmmm, so I said what the hell. I broke out the tarpon sticks cause I know the guy isn't going to slow down for us if we catch anything. The crew is laughing their asses off at me...until we started nailing spanish mackeral on the long tow home. Damn fish felt like tuna at that speed.

Be a real mariner, take some fucking risk:

man, driving a boat out in the gulf is one of the funner experiences i've had

and being on a glass-bottomed boat with my middle school class in 4 foot waves as they all got sick and threw up while i was standing at the top having the time of my life gave me plenty of fodder to make fun of them with

yay boats

Take some fucking risks? Have you been 43 miles off shore and had the wind shift on you and go from 10 knots to 35? Have you surfed up 14 monsters and have your bow plow into the next one? Have you been stuck in a squall offshore with no where to go? Have you been in 7-8 foot waves in 4 feet of water in the pitch dark? Have you ever heard the sound of a breaking wave offshore or the scream of twin screws overreving because they came completely out of the water?

That was a scary experience. It was early morning and we hadn't realized how bad the channled had shifted. Any higher and we would have bottomed out for sure. The depth finder was reading between 4.7 and 5.1

Oooooooh. How about NO?

Yea, I am Budweiser-powered redneck, but at least my lump of fiberglass puts me on top of the fish and gets me home every night, no matter what conditions we go through.

maugan is always whining about boats

I honestly could care less about sailing, I think it's cool, but I'd rather be on a powerboat catching fish

yeah, take that little sailboat through an inlet at low tide

booo fucking hooo.

I've got some offshore stories that would make that seem like a goddamned children's book.

35 knots aint shit.

14 footers aint shit.

Quote :

Close. But I was in a catamaran, not a stinkpot. If I had something that had a motor and a depth finder, it surely wouldn't find itself in 4 feet of water with 7 foot waves. (I'm assuming it was 4' in the trough of the wave)
