apparently mtv has taken all of the good that use to exist in its tv channel and streamlined it directly into it's movie production company

actually, john singleton spent $3 million of his own money to make the movie and after it was a smash at cannes, mtv purchased it from him for $9 million. apparently, singleton had to pay for it himself because the studio that was willing to put up the money for it wanted an actual rapper to play the lead role.

i really enjoyed it tonight, albeit, i'm white. most of the rest of the theatre was black, but i didn't take an exit poll of their enjoyment, but people around me seemed to be entertained

I know they have done some crap like Crossroads but they have made some good movies including one of my all time favortie movies Election.

I thought the movie was uneven. It tended to drag at various points, like right before he went to meet Skinny Black, and the ending seemed to carry on too long as well. I was entertained though.

Pretty good movie, the soundtrack was hot. Thought it was a good performance by Terrence. That part at the beginning in the strip club was a bit much.

Black here and saw it with a group of blacks, and talked it over with quite a few friends and family. Was a great movie and all agreed. Awesome movie, and yeah MTV been putting out some decent and good movies over the past few years....WTG MTV
