Burlgirl's computer said operating system not found...please put in disc and press "r" or something...
Well, when she does that it says "setup cannot continute, hard disc now found"
Or something of that nature...any suggestions on the problem? 7/31/2005 6:26:00 PM |

Sounds like the OS is corrupt, or worse yet, her hard drive crashed... might be as simple as reinstalling whichever operating system she has, reformatting the HD then doing that, or worse yet, replacing the drive and starting all new. 7/31/2005 6:42:17 PM |

Is it plugged in?
(a serious questions. ribbon cables come loose all the time.) 7/31/2005 6:45:30 PM |

Well, what can/can't you do for either???
It's a laptop, so I don't know if everything is plugged in...but I think laptop's are different in that respect.
And if one crashed or became corrupt, would she still be able to turn on her computer, but be prompted by blue screens. ] 7/31/2005 6:47:29 PM |

ive never seen a ribbon cable come loose...but yeah, its possible. either the shit isnt plugged in right or hard drive is probably f'ed. $40 on ebay and you can get another, install it, run the install for whatever OS you have and reinstall every damn thing
ps hope u didnt have anything u wanted to keep on that hard drive 7/31/2005 6:48:48 PM |

more than likely the hard drive just crashed and needs replacing. Try reinstalling the operating system and see if that fixes it. If not, just tell her to go to Intrex and get a new hard drive. 7/31/2005 6:57:34 PM |
