I love this question (and it's myriad of formats), it almost always signals a lay mind confronting the potentially ugly nature of truth in the world.

Listen up, it's just this simple:

There is no explanation that reconciles the concept of a benevolent divine power with the fact that evil exists in the world of humankind.

Either do good, or do evil, and if you want to question why there are both, keep banging that head up against that opaque mental wall called uncertainty.
