hahahaha - yeah, right. Let's put you in a tux and a marine in dress blues and see who gets the piece of ass first.

I love some of the posts in this thread...

"and to follow up to yall fucks who have friends as best men...why do you feel the need to disrespect your fathers like that? (i apologize in advance to those who have lost their fathers)"

Maybe because I had an agreement with my best friend from high school that we would be each other's best men when the time came. Honestly I had never even heard of that tradition of the father being the best man until after I got married.

"i dunno why they're gettin married at 22, 23... it's so young. and maybe they are in love, who am i to say, hell, i dont know what love is. but still, it just seems like if they truly love each other, they can wait at least until their late 20s"

It's funny how times change so quickly. People are afraid of commitment so much in our generation. God forbid you find someone in your early or mid-20s (years after you've been deemed an adult by every establishment in our society) that you want to spend your life with. I'd be willing to be that the average college educated couple who gets married in their late 20s or early 30s has the same divorce rate as an average college educated couple who gets married in their early 20s.

Perhaps some people see the value in a meaningful relationship and a family and would like to get headed in that direction before they are too old to have kids or have wasted years sitting in a bar looking for a hookup. [* that isn't directed to anyone in this thread in particular, just a general rant of mine]

I don't know who's gonna be my best man. It could be my dad maybe. But I've also got a younger brother. But I'm not super close to him, so I dunno... But not like this shit'll matter, at least not for another 3-5 years at least.

i dont fear commitment at all. it's financial preparedness that worries me the most, and the ability to support another person. sorry, i'll wait because i've got to be where i need to be professionally, and if she truly loves me, she'll wait.

having your father/brother as your best man is defintely a southern tradition as well as having your sisters in your wedding.

I've been told that i have to have my older sister in my wedding even though i can barely tolerate her so why would i want her in my wedding?

i've been in 4 since the summer of '02. and i've seen approximately 3/4 of my good friends from college get married since then (approx. 10 ppl). two already have children and another one has one on the way.

plus there are 2 weddings of good friends of mine that are happening next spring. this whole feeling responsible for throwing a shower thing has GOT to stop (i've helped to throw 6 since the summer of '02).

my wallet REALLY needs some relief.

Hey I'm 23 Does Jason being 25 make ours different? or the fact we've been together for 6 years...

I don't have any married girl friends and my sister didn't have a wedding, so 0 I wouldn't mind being in one or two in my lifetime but I honestly don't think it'll happen. I just hang out with the guys too much. I have two close girl friends here but I don't think I'm close enough to be asked.

Three, if memory serves, and they all have some unusual stories to go with them.

1. One was for my best friend in high school and NCSU roommate. During the reception, someone stole 3/4 of the wedding gifts.

2. One was for my other best friend whom I met at NCSU. One of my exes got fall-down drunk and embarrassed the hell out of the bride, groom, and me.

3. The most recent one was for my brother. Apparently, his wife and my parents are no longer speaking to each other because of how nice the wedding was. I really don't understand that one.

Hope that the next one I'm in is a nice normal wedding.
