Ok, this thread is different from the one down below. I just read a Walt Whitman column the other day where he was talking about how the United States should not give money to third world countries. His main reason is that these countries are controlled, for the most part, by dictatorships who recieve the aid that is given to them without extending it to those that need the money.

It seems like he was suggesting that these countries, and he cited countries within Africa, who are recieving free aid overthrow these regimes and try to start a democratic, capitalist government/economy.

Any thoughts?

Do some research.

Isreal gets 5 Billion in Aid along with Egypt. The stipulation is that they can only spend this 5 billion on weapons from USA based companies. So there is 10 Billion a year tax payers are paying, in a round about way, to the weapons manufactures. We live in a Great Country.
