I have a dell primier login through work. From there I can purchase a computer for home use through the EPP (employee and affiliate purchase program) store. For most items I would lose out because the deals on the main Dell site are better, some deals are as good as a whole $10 off. I've also noticed that most systems that I can purchase for work are a good bit more than Jon Q Public can buy. I would expect better than this from dell.

they decided that people who can't spell "premier" are too stupid to buy computers from them. 8/20/2005 11:44:37 PM |

I have a Solutions Provider account with Dell, and unless you are doing a $3000+ completely custom machine order, it's always cheaper to just order through the public gateway (my rep told me this early on).
The great thing about the SP account though is I can order ANY combination of parts. I can actually pick the motherboard, cpu, ram, video, sound et al by model# so both I and my clients know exactly what's inside. 8/21/2005 2:09:00 PM |

On occassion, there is a discount for EPP members in addition to the standard EPP discount.
It happens about once every quarter. 8/21/2005 9:26:17 PM |

My sis needs to get a new computer. I told her to go with dell but she's asking me about HP. Every HP I've ever had has gone to shit.
http://weeklyad.circuitcity.com/circuitcity/default.aspx?action=browsepagelarge&storeid=2397164&rapid=166739&pagenumber=16
but this HP deal from circuit city for $789 seems really good Windows XP media center ed. AMD Athalon 64 3500 250 GB SATA 1 GB PC3200 DVD-rom in bay 1 DL DVD+/-RW in bay 2 with laser-etch (I love this) 15" LCD but somehow she says she gets the 17" for cheaper After a bundle rebate Will be adding a TV tuner card
I can't find a dell to compete with that deal...What to do? 8/21/2005 10:04:27 PM |

That's the exact system I bought a few weeks ago (without the monitor, though). Likewise, I couldn't find a better deal from anyone so I just went for it. I love this system--the only thing I need now is a PCI-E video card to add to it. 8/22/2005 1:33:22 AM |
