unless it needs administrator privileges for some reason (i.e., writing to the local drive or settings), you should be able to install anything on K that will fit on K
[Edited on August 22, 2005 at 4:17 PM. Reason : that said, anything Microsoft probably won't install on K] 8/22/2005 4:17:04 PM |

Maybe if you install it to your K drive at home and then run it from your K drive at school? 8/22/2005 4:20:11 PM |

that sounds like a poorly trapped error resulting from the restrictions on the operating environment
short version:
no, you cannot install that. 8/22/2005 4:20:33 PM |

I want to say activesync requires admin rights, but I'm not 100% sure. If it requires admin rights it's a definite no. 8/22/2005 7:26:11 PM |

ActiveSync requires installing a device driver to work (which can only be installed by the SYSTEM account or a member of the Administrators group). It cannot be put on the Windows lab environment not matter how many contortions you try to go through.
If you send the worlds nicest email to help@ncsu.edu asking for ActiveSync to be included in ITD's next lab kit, its possible they might put it on there next time. I'd give you about 2:1 odds vs. monkees flying out of my butt. 8/22/2005 8:43:03 PM |

And FYI - some GPS recievers use Windows CE. That might be a more valid sounding request than for your phone. 8/22/2005 8:58:37 PM |
