I don't own any of The Simpsons DVDs, but I found this interesting. They changed the packaging for the newer DVDs. They set up a website so those who liked the old packaging could order that same style for the new DVDs.

http://www.simpsonsbox.com/

Click that link and start going through the site. They are being total dicks about it.

That's all. Found that to be a little odd.

I thought it was kinda funny and cool that they did that. The DVD set comes with a little insert explaining how to order the old box.

I don't care too much for the new packaging, mostly because it looks cheap and cheesy.

Quit taking it so seriously. They're not even charging people money (except for shipping and handling). The fact that they threw a few cheap insults out on the website is consistent with the Simpsons/Futurama relationship with fans, which is to poke a little fun at them every once in a while. "Being total dicks" would be saying "We changed the packaging. Deal with it."

Do you realize that there are people who are FURIOUS they changed the boxes?

These fucking chumps get their panties in a wad and act all imposed upon and shit because the box is different. Fox has every right to make fun of them.

I mean, if I was buying these things, I'd want the same boxes. It's not so much a nerd thing as an obsessive compulsive thing, or whatever.

I probably wouldn't go through the trouble of ordering it though, cause I keep all my shit in binders.

I figured the people over at Fox or The Simpons or whoever did this learned what the people over at Enterprise didn't: nerds pay your bills, show them a little respect, or at least don't announce that you hate them.

It's not odd, it's Simpsons writers. I found it hilarious that they know the audience so well that they included a slip in the packaging that says "for all you anal-retentive DVD nerds, or those that fear change and creativity, call this number."

There's a love/mock relationship that goes both ways with these groups.

For instance, if you pause the screen during the list of corrections in "Homer Badman," you'll see that early in the list, it says "If you're reading these, you have no life" (paraphrase). Seems pretty mean, right? Not when you see the last entry: "The people who wrote these have no lives."

Yeah, I guess it does read a little more tongue-in-cheek than I originally thought, still seems a little harsh.
