Anyone noticed that cover charges there have really gone up? Most of the shows are at least $10 now. I remember when $5 covers used to be the standard.

yeah i mean i thought it was just cause attendance numbers are way down. Seems like (generally speaking) less crowds are coming out to see bands play...so club owners are having to boost cover charges to compensate. From what I've seen, the Brewery still keeps things relatively low on the cover side...but some of the prices for lincoln theater are just getting ridiculous.

It's terribly bad when $15 will also get you in the door at the Cradle to see New Pornographers.

Did I tell you about that time Dan Bejar lovingly slapped me on the ass?

Shit was tight, yo.

except for the fact that the cradle is a pretty bad venue, i'm not sure i would pay $15 to see anyone there. i paid $12 to watch mastodon back in june, and that was only becuase my friends weren't going if i wasn't and i ddin't want to be a party pooper. lincoln's prices aren't getting unreasonable yet, but they're definetly no deal like they used to be.

I think you would be in the minority when you say the cradle is a pretty bad venue.

^ its a great venue as far as tradition goes, etc. But in the way of lights/sound system, and overall sanitation...it doesn't hold a candle to the lincoln theatre.

i'm not sure if its the crappy sound or the fact that if you're shorter than 6 ft, you can't see the stage at all from more than 10 ft away.

I'm not a big fan of the layout of Lincoln Theater, or the size/height of the stage (or the bands they book, for that matter).

It'll be interesting to see what the new Cradle looks like.

P.S. Sanitation has nothing to do with rock and roll.

I disagree.

A lack of sanitation has EVERYTHING to do with rocknroll.

True.

A good rock and roll venue is like a good barbecue joint: if it's clean, it means they haven't been spending enough time on the rock and roll/barbecue.
