It's usually not worth getting up early and fighting the middle aged linux nerds. 8/31/2005 12:46:23 PM |

You wana see humanity at its worse, go check it out.
I went one time, and this guy brings his physically/mentally handycapped son, and when the doors open he runs in, and the guy at the door is yelling at these adults not to run. Then the guys son stops to greet the man at the door, and people start pushing the kid out of the way and shit. Then people start fighting for carts, then start just grabbing shit, saying "mine!". They don't even know what some shit does, like old chem lab equipment. It looked like a shopping spree contest. Fucking sad.
It's not worth your time. Unless you want to go to see the forementioned circus. 8/31/2005 1:15:55 PM |

They have more people show up than they have decent stuff. It's a great place to go if you want a 15" monitor or an old PI or PII system. I've scored a couple decent things there in the past: a very nice 19" Envision flat tube CRT for $20, a 3 drawer filing cabinet for $10 (excellent condition), and my friend once got almost 2000' (in 75-200' sections) of unterminated CAT6 cable for $5. At the same time I've scored a couple dud monitors (seemed to test ok, got home and one color was out, etc).
It's fun to check out, but don't go there thinking you are going to come away with a new P4 system with a flat screen for $100 or something... 8/31/2005 1:17:15 PM |
