i had a pjb before my ipod. they were the first portable mp3 players to offer 20gb hds.

it had up, down, left, right, play/pause and stop buttons in the perfect places

i just hopped on the mp3 player band wagon as well.

i choose the iRiver i-799 (1 gig flash, radio, line in recording...basically what the iPod shuffle should have been).

shit...I love my iPod, but damn they made it the easiest damn thing to get scratched.

and of course, no one makes a functional case that protects the precious little click wheel

Wrong, as I've said on here before, the Contour iSee and get a refill of the plastic sleeves. The sleeves go over the wheel and screen before inserting into the hard case, so the wheel is protected. I throw my iPod in my pocket with my keys and have yet do do any damage to it. When I replace the plastic sleeves (done this once), the iPod is in brand new condition.
