Whenever you are feeling bad about our football team, just remember back to when Jamie Barnette through a pick off of the ref's head, and when Mike O'Cain would have us lose to teams like Baylor.

except for the fact that he was like 5'10 and could barely see over his O-Line, Torry Holt made him look great.

those were the days though, Beat FSU 24-7 even though they beat us in almost every offensive stat, then the next week lose to a Baylor team that could have lost to most Division II schools, then the next week come and beat Syracuse with Donovan McNabb 38-17. Ahh memories, if I recall that was Micron PC bowl season the game Edgerrin James and Miami ran all over us and Barnette threw a ball that hit the umpire and was picked off.

barnette had more heart than jay davis or philip rivers

not talent, not arm strength, not ability

but raw heart and determination to win.

except turnovers

Was it 5 or 6 picks that Wienke threw that game?

^^^ Weinke had 5 and their backup threw 1, Lloyd Harrison who holds the interception record for one game had 3 picks.

^^and yes Baylor beat us by a field goal or less

O'cain had some huge wins and some terrible losses.

I think the biggest win of them all was when we beat Texas in Austin 23-20 in 1999. I think that was Mack Brown's first year there IIRC. Special teams won that game with 3 blocked kicks.

Texas game = the shit

FSU 98 was great too, b/c they had only lost once or twice (conference) before since they had joined the ACC

Bullshit, PRiv had plenty of heart...he carried us in almost every game he played.

i wouldn't even try to compare Barnette's heart to Rivers'.

all i know is that Barnette took some of the most wicked hits I've ever seen. It was really sad when he got that concussion his senior year, because he never really got back in stride after that.

I always liked Jamie Barnette, even though he wasn't an "excellent" quarterback. He had a SHITLOAD of heart.
