Just started really doing this a lot yesterday, but it keeps cutting out, rescanning for networks, acquires the address, and then the internet works just fine............for about 10 minutes, and then does this process again. Our network is password protected, but no settings or anything of that sort have been changed. I can't alter which networks the card picks up, it picks up all the ones it can in the area.........

XP, D-Link wireless card

Multiple networks in area? Get it working, then disable the wireless zero config service.

Also try using the D-Link wireless utility to manage the connection rather than the built-in windows one.

It could be quite a few things causing this, but check the usuals:
1. 2.4GHz cordless phone in use.
2. crappy microwave close to comp or router.
3. matching encryption settings in router and comp

You might try logging into your router and changing the channel it uses which may help if there are a ton of other wifi networks around. Another option is to reposition the antennas on the router to try and aim the signal.

Good luck..pretty much everyone has had trouble with this at one time or another.

Lots of wireless networks in my area, most not encrypted. I already use D-Link's wireless utility to manage my connection

No phone, no microwave (or anything like that) near router, encryption settings match.......

Funny that you mention the channel, i noticed that on the list of available wireless networks the majority of them use channel 6, which is what my router uses. So you think changing that would make a difference???

thanks for the help

yeah i am having issues with this with my wireless on my laptop. Every damn 10-15 minutes the fucking bubbles pops up saying it connected to my network and gives the signal strength. Of course AIM makes an annoying noise and has to wait a bit to reconnect.

my router only heats up like the sun and disconnects when i am using limewire or some intense filesharing app. i would check to make sure that's not happening as well.
