My projector arrived today. The projector is reporting that the factory installed bulb is defective. It fails after attempting to light the bulb after 5 attempts -- according the the troubleshooting portion of the manual.
Can I please get a new bulb and I will return the defective one to you ASAP. We bought this projector for a seminar on October 1st.
I checked the bulb connections and they are intact.
I was not expecting it to be defective upon arrival.
Best regards,
Aaron Vaughan" |
Quote : | "Dear Valued Customer, Thank you for contacting Newegg.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. However, if you have received a projector from Newegg and you are experiencing problems with it, please contact manufacturer directly. They can assist you with any technical support you may need, or replace/repair the projector for you. Many manufacturers will also pay for the return shipping cost as well as pay for the shipping cost to send it back to you.
However, if you need replace through Newegg, you must require a Reference Number from manufacturer determining it is defective within the first 30 days from the original invoice date. Please note that the customer is responsible for paying the cost of shipping the projector back to Newegg while we will pay for the shipping of the replacement to you.
If you are simply unsatisfied with the quality of the projector and require a refund within the 30 days from the invoiced date, we will issue a RMA for a refund. However, 15% restocking fee will be applied and customer is solely responsible for return shipping.

And to think I bought this Infocus X2 projector through NewEgg because usually I get great support with them... Now I'm out another $300 bucks trying to get a replacement bulb here before October 1st... and no, no local stores where I live have them.
And I would have called instead of e-mailed, but I don't get home from work early enough.

I don't really consider this as warranty work. The thing arrived DOA. Either it got beat-up in shipping, or in the warehouse somewhere.
NewEgg shipped me a defunct product. They should be able to deal with, exchange me another projector and they deal with Infocus.
^and if you click on the little "?" next to that it reads at the bottom:
Quote : | "Newegg.com SATISFACTION GUARANTEE - Newegg.com offers our customers a 30-day satisfaction replacement or refund guarantee on all purchases, except:
7-day replacement or refund guarantee on all CPUs, including refurbished processors. All other refurbished merchandise has a 15 day warranty period. Note: For CPU, base cost will reflect current market price, and 15% restocking fee will apply after this adjustment. This amount will be subtracted from the total refund. Downloadable software is non-refundable. " |

Its funny they say that you should deal with the manufacturer. Perhaps if you bought it straight from the manufacturer and saved some money then I could understand. NewEgg are classic middlemen.9/24/2005 10:48:52 AM |

I'd agree that the manufacturer should deal with it, if it were outside the "newegg customer satification..." time. And I better not have to pay shipping... 9/24/2005 11:06:08 AM |

The unit isnt DOA, the BULB is.
YOU ASKED THE WRONG QUESTION.
You asked them to replace the BULB for you, and they referred you to the manufacturer. They don't deal in bulbs or warranty replacements.
Had you simply RETURNED THE WHOLE DAMN THING, they would have shipped you a new bulb and projector.9/24/2005 2:23:48 PM |

Actually.. i'm not sure it is the bulb now. It came back on, ran for a few minutes. Then it flashed, and shut off again.
Any ideas? 9/24/2005 3:15:01 PM |

1) you asked for a replacement part. Newegg doesn't stock that so they sent you to the manufacturer
2) CALL newegg. it's free. I bet if you ship it back they will send you a new one.
If you whine about having to pay shipping costs then go through the manufacturer who won't charge you but that takes longer. 9/25/2005 12:16:59 AM |
