Looking to get a DS, but wondering if it'll hook into the gamecube so i can use connectivity features, like using the DS as a minimap in Medal of Honor, and use it to play Pacman VS.

nope, you can't even link to another GBA system. Link capabilities for GBA games on the DS are nonexistent.
