I am getting an Ipod Nano tomorrow and don't have an input jack into my car stereo. I do have a tape deck though. Is the FM thing give better sound quality, or the tape input?

the fm modulator made by griffin that my brother has for his ipod sounds way better than the tape adaptor thing i have for a cd player.

actually it sounds a lot better than the modulator i have for the cd player too. that one was made by phillips i think.

lets put it this way then: FM modulators are EXTREMELY hit or miss. with a tape adapter you know what you'll get all the time. if you're going to go the FM route, get the iriver one.

yeah FM modulators really are hit or miss...sometimes mine kicks ass, othertimes it's useless. go for the tape adaptor unless you just don't want the wires all over the place in your car.

It depends on your tape player. If you have a decent tape-player, the tape adapter would be the way to go. If you have a crappy tape player in your car, it's very possible that the FM modulator would give you better sound.

You should try the tape player first, and if it sounds horrible (lots of hissing), first try wiggling the tape around in the tape player, then return it and get the FM modulator.

first of all

if you're considering a FM system

how far from your console is your antenna?

that makes a difference.

if you go out of town will you feel like finding a new frequency?

The modulator was terrible for me. The tape adapter is great. 8/10.

I installed XM into my sister's Jeep (which didn't have Aux in) with a wired FM Modulator, and it sounds really good

We tried a wireless one for the hell of it, and it sucked

I got the iTrip FM transmitter thing and there was def. a quality difference. I fixed it by just adjusting the EQ on my iPod. Now it sounds just fine.
