for those of you with ipods (the full sized versions, more specifically), which accessories have you purchased that you would recommend?

i'm looking for a good clear cover/skin/protective wrap thing to keep from scratching it up.

also a good quality in-home speaker system thing that you set the ipod directly into...i really want the one from Bose but that's a tad bit expensive for me.

for a good skin:

http://www.iskin.com/evo2.html

I have the blue one and really like it. I actually took the iPod to the beach and I wasn't paying attention and water splashed on it a little bit and thanks to that skin it was fine. They come in 20GB and 40GB sizes just make sure you don't get the wrong one. They also sell these cases at the Apple store at Southpoint.

get the iSee. It's hard, so a drop won't fuck up your iPod. It also comes with plastic jackets that you put over your iPod before you put it in the case, thus protecting the click wheel.

The only downside of a case like this (or the one mentioned above), is that you won't be able to use a dock, but all other accessories work fine.

I've had my iPod for a year and it looks brand new when you take it out of the case. It stays in my pocket with keys, cell phones, etc so..

Incredible headphones, easy to find way below MSRP too:

http://www.sennheiserusa.com/newsite/productdetail.asp?transid=005207

2 year warranty, extremely comfortable and light weight, nearly indestructible.

the sound quality is amazing too, almost as good as my HD280 pro set.

eh, the iSee is a little too bulky for what i'm looking for. i don't carry the ipod around in my pocket, esp not with keys, but mostly b/c girl-pants don't have very roomy pockets. i'm looking for a cover/skin that's thin and clear, but will keep it from getting scratched.

but thanks for the suggestion, maybe someone else will find it helpful.

oh, i got this at best buy:

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7030223&type=product&productCategoryId=pcmcat33100050027&id=1099394930922
for 9.99 and it works really well. now the ipod is right there next the radio controls so i can skip songs or whatever while driving w/o looking down. it clips onto the air vent.

jam jackets are pretty good clear covers, they're silicon so they offer some shock resistance too and aren't very thick at all.

invisible sheild brand protectors are great too.

do you think the silicon type protectors will fit inside that cradle i bought? (see above)
the sides expand and it's adjustable so i think it'd work....

hmm maybe, since it expands. the jam jackets are decent cases regardless. invisible shield is more likely to fit though, since it's ultra thin.

Any recommendations for a good set of behind the "head"phones? I'm not a fan of the over the head style or ear buds. I have a generic pair now and imagine the sound quality could be much better.

I bought one for my Ipod and I must say I'm impressed. Be sure to check out the videos on the page.

The Sennheiser PMX60 headphones get good reviews on Amazon and are only $22.99!
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00009LI55/104-1746986-3813569?v=glance&n=172282
I might have to give them a try.

^ just remember you pay shipping on amazon for orders under 30 bucks

with shipping it's 28.12 (if you get the Pi% discount for using A9 search engine.)

so it's still cheaper through zip zoom fly, unless you're ordering other stuff from amazon at the same time.

It really doesn't add much more bulk. It's better than the silicon stuff because you can actually slide it in your pocket, where as silicon doesn't slide.

Silicon won't slide too much, but you can pull the sides out and wedge it in it might work.

I wouldn't recommend the Griffin iTrip. Around campus, it sucks b/c it gets fuzzy w/ WKNC. I also have problems after so many weeks/months of having to reset the station it plays with. Sometimes the connection from the transmitter piece and the iPod isn't perfect, so I have to like hold it down to avoid loud static.

Get a bmw instead of an itrip, you'll be much happier.

^^you know you can change the station that iTrip broadcasts on, right?? (ie you won't have to worry about wknc)

like i said before, i don't carry the ipod in my pocket. i carry it in a small pocket just its exact size in my pocketbook. i'm not concerned about it sliding around. i bought a cheap silicon one from walmart a while ago and it fits fine in that cradle.

Anyone know of a good skin and FM transmitter for the Nano? I just got one the other day and want to get a skin to keep it from getting beat up and a transmitter for my car.

can you buy ear buds or headphones with a retractable cord so it doesn't always tangle up in your bag?

that invisible shield thing looks awesome. i got an iskin, but i honestly don't like that sort of sticky silicon feel of it. plus, the cover gathers every fucking particle of dirt, lint, etc, on it.

i have a sony dvd dream system, but it has no USB hook up. wouldn't the sound quality be better if you use the plug on the bottom of the ipod instead of the audio jack on the top?

also, i can't take the dream system from the living room to the bedroom or the porch, etc.

what is westlaw and how can i get one free too?

OMFG! These are 100x better than my old headphones. Thanks for the suggestion Charybdisjim. I'm not an audiophile, but these are spectacular compared to my default headphones that came with my Rip-n-Go mp3 player a few years ago. Also in contrast to the reviews on Amazon it has a 1.4m instead of 1m.

^ I did the invisible shield thing. Guess I used a but too much water because now my scrollwheel doesn't work. The buttons like menu and stuff work, but it won't scroll.

Put on on my Treo and its fine. The Ipod screen is much easier to read with it on though. On the Treo, I'm not sure if its the wavy surface or glare, but the screen doesn't seen as sharp now.
