Has anyone had the opportunity to use the Rebel XT and compare to others that are comparible from another brand ie. Nikon D70 or other models If so, which do you like best? and why? I've been looking into the Rebel for a while and most recently the new XT model.

D70 is better. Don't go by pixel count because it doesn't matter as much as the other factors like user friendly layout and controls, better flash performance, battery performance, etc. Also the D70 kit lens is MUCH better than the Canon kit lens.

A lot of it comes down to the the photographer but given equal skills the cameras should produce similar results with a slight edge to the D70 IMO.

As much as I love the 350D (XT), the D70 is a better camera

if you have the money, definitely get the D70. It is by far a better camera. Canon's 20d is the D70s competetor, not the rebel line.
