if those are the two choices it's probably lose-lose for the homecoming committee, a band people love to hate or a band that no one has even heard of

I know I hate Dashboard.

I know I hate Dashboard fans even more.

I have no fucking clue what "Crossfade" is, other than a control on a mixing board.

Dashboard puts on a solid live show

I'd see that. It's better than regurgitated Creed.

No, no it isn't.

I'd rather watch a recording of the "Rolling Stones" show from Wallace Wade than see Dashboard OR regurgitated Creed.

I'd rather stab my ears out then go see Crossfade.

NCSU could get Darkest Hour or BTBAM or something to come play here dirt cheap. The entire intramural fields should just be one giant pit.

yea i think id rather see backstreet boys myself over crossfade.

i mean come on..were they in the studio without a name and said "hey whats this button do?"
"oh thats for crossfading"
"woahh thats a cool word" "yea lets name our band after it"

?

oh well. im pretty sure they have this guy that does second vocals...but hes a stand alone...so he stood up on stage with them but only had bits and pieces of vocals and stuff here and there. it was odd

couldn't they get someone like the shins or something? I mean, I wouldn't think they'd cost anymore than dashboard and they're actually a good band.

"Homecoming committee nears decision on band

The Homecoming Committee announced it had narrowed its decision to two bands for this year's Pack Howl concert. Committee chair Amanda Lilley, a senior in chemistry, revealed the news to more than 40 students gathered for Tuesday night's committee meeting.

"We have two offers going out," Lilley said. "One is to Dashboard Confessional and the other is to Crossfade."

Members of the committee were optimistic about the news, but a clear favorite had been drawn soon after Lilley's announcement.

"Obviously we hope to get Dashboard Confessional," Rudy Salas, an electrical engineering sophomore, said. "They are a lot more popular and will create the most hype on campus."

Operational differences with its initial talent agent led to a mid-summer switch -- something Lilley said hindered the decision process.

"I am not happy, by any means, at some of the organizational troubles we have had with our first agent," Lilley said. "I am confident, however, that we will have a band for Homecoming."

According to Cody Williams, a junior in agricultural business management and chair of the Pack Howl Committee, a group responsible for the planning of the concert, the talent agent is the liaison between the committee and possible bands.

"The agent determines what bands from the list we created last semester are possibilities for the homecoming concert based on their schedules and our budget," Williams said.

Lilley said that there is a major price difference between the two bands, with Dashboard Confessional's cost at $50,000 and Crossfade at just $15,000. Lilley said that these prices are a far cry from some of the more mainstream bands that the Homecoming Committee initially contacted.

"Green Day was charging $150,000 for an appearance, well above our $75,000 cap," Lilley said. "The Killers, a relatively new band, wanted $450,000."

Williams said if Dashboard Confessional performed, student tickets would be $10 -- an amount equal to last year's Homecoming concert, which featured Ludacris. A concert featuring Crossfade would be free to students, according to Lilley.

Pop-Rock, this year's musical genre, was a decision by the Homecoming Committee aimed at increasing attendance at the homecoming pep rally and concert. Reynolds Coliseum, the site of the homecoming concert, has yet to fill capacity in the history of the Pack Howl era, which includes a free concert from country-pop hybrid, Lonestar.

Lilley said that while she is frustrated with some of the obstacles in deciding on a band, she believes that Homecoming this year offers students much more than a popular music group.

"I am interested to see how the next week unfolds logistically, but it is important to note that homecoming is more than just a concert," Lilley said. "Homecoming is a week-long event and will be a good time whoever the band is.""

Instead of booking shitty bands with my fees, they should just subsidize my New Pornographers ticket or something.

So you pick Dashboard?

There's no way Dashboard Confessional and/or Crossfade are going to pull in more people than Ludacris.
