yep, those were the good ol' days. i was a pioneer of booing chuck amato (would have been the duke victory in 2002 by a score of 24-22).

ah yes I remember when we were supposed to suck, see the best thing about those times...
which I call the Mike O'cain Days... was that we could tailgate, all day and night before if you wanted...
going to football games was more for tailgating and catching the football game was fun but you knew you would suck so it was no big deal when you lost

truth is, O'Cain wanted the facilites we have now, it took a new chancellor, AD and coach to get them...
We've got great facilites, a heck of a great stadium and I think in time, if we can keep our assistant coaches from leaving, a program worth it's hype.

UNC has won 11 of the last 20 I think

We won 7 in a row under Sheridan

They won 8 of 9 against O'Cain

We're 3 and 3 under Amato

O'cain never beat UNC, which was one of the main reasons that he was canned.

Sorry

Sheridan won 8 of his last 9 or 10

O'Cain lost 6 or 7 in a row

Amato is still 3-3

^No.

Dick Sheridan was at State for 6 seasons. He lost his first game against Carolina, then one 5 straight (88 - 92). In 1993, we started a 7 loss streak (93 - 99) that was finally broken in Chuck's first year. Carolina won the 2001 game, and then the last 2.

The good ol' days were when we always went to a bowl (Dick Sheridan's tenure). There was a point when NC State had one of the longest consecutive bowls attended streak in the country.

It was much more fun then, but I don't know if that's because the expectations were so much lower, or what. Either way, going to a game then was whole lot less of a pain in the ass than going to a game now.

The two years I spent here before Rivers were better than the shit we are suffering through now.

We beat Donovan McNabb.

McNabb, man.

hmmmm, the MicronPC Bowl, and beating the hell out of Minnesota was sweeeet....but two of the best was 1) taking a road trip to Tallahassee with some good buds from my dorm and the band(about 80 people in all), and watching us kick the hell out of FSU 24-17, and the 2nd Best was definitely watching Rivers in company in Jacksonville @ the Gator Bowl, beat up on Notre Dame on national t.v.....ahh GOD those were the good ole days and thank GOD I was there to witness an offense and defense on the same page with one another....ahh how I wish those days were upon us now....

^i don't recall "beating the hell out of the Minnesota." wasn't state down by like 20-something at the half? the final was 38-30.

I meant to say the comeback in the 2nd half..after hearing so much smack from the Minnesota football players ..it was good to see them lose to us.

beating the hell out of someone isn't winning by one score (i.e. FSU game)

Dude, we beat the hell out of FSU that game. The score may not indicate it, but it was a damn ass-kicking.

Of course, a certain player from FSU helped us out a little...

it helped that we almost killed NDs starting QB....they had a nice drive going before that happened....backup sucked ass....that was a great game to go too

hope all the college kids enjoy the new stadium, and the terrible team playing in the upgraded digs.

does anyone remember the QB's under Sheridan?? I know Shane Montgomery was from 87-89.. but not sure when Terry Jordan came in.. was someone in between the two?

My dad's a VT fan.. and is looking for a list of QB's coached by O'Cain.. and asked about the QB's during the Sheridan era.

If I am not mistaken, I have the Touchdown Wolfpack book somewhere at home....

I think it was Montgomery > Terry Jordan > Terry Harvey/Geoff Bender > then Jose Laureano

I remember Harvey was a good baseball player too. Poor guy puked on the field against Clemson back in 93.

Harvey threw a no hitter against FSU. I thought Geoff Bender was the one chunking on the field at Clemson and Harvey came in at the end? I may have it backwards.

correct harvey/bender were both during sheridan and O'Cain eras and Laureno was under O'Cain albeit just a few games. Also under Sheridan were Eric Kramer and Preston Poag who split time with Montgomery and also doubled as a punter.

my first game as a student: labor day 2000, rainy as hell, sliding down the old grassy hill in the SEZ, and then walking from CF to university towers to go home
