What are some of the better software packages out there? Something fairly simple to learn would be nice so I can use it to it's full power sooner, but I'm a quick learner with software so I don't mind something more challenging if it can do more. Mostly I want to be able to make my own menu's, especially using images i've created. Any suggestions?

www.videohelp.com

Check out the Tools section on that site. It will show you a list of authoring programs (and lots of other stuff), and some of them are free or trial versions so you can try them out and see what works best for you.

NeroVision Express SE with the DVD plug-in. Very easy to use and it hasn't given me any problems.
