did you upgrade the service? it's quite possible that you need to get a different modem from them as i had to do when they bumped the speed. i'm 100% sure they would never go through the effort of telling you you need different hardware. 10/17/2005 11:55:47 AM |

I can't imagine you'd need a new cable modem.. from what I understand they can pull up to 30-40 mbps... maybe more? Sounds to me like something's not gone through correctly or you just have too many people on your pipe to get that kind of speed... or road runner just sucks 10/17/2005 12:08:21 PM |

well they have certain firmwares for certain hardware, so it is possible that he has a modem that there isn't a firmware update for... (they come down the pipe)
probably should call them and complain.

without disrespect, why do you need RoadRunner Premium? Is that extra 3MB of incoming bandwidth going to make a difference for what you do on the internet? 10/17/2005 12:47:47 PM |

5mbps =~ 1.5 terabytes/month, 8mbps =~2.5terabytes/month... unless you regularly back your NAS up over VPN, I can't see any (legal and not in violation of ToS) need for the bandwidth of either plan :p 10/18/2005 3:38:03 AM |
