I had a UNC student tell me yesterday that this kid is a total fag. If its comming from a UNC fag, then it must be true.

a good friend of mine who is working on his degree in athletic training and sits in on the bball practices says that we look really really good this year so far, everyone on the team shoots lights out from just about everywhere. Brackman has beefed up some, as has Gavin Grant and Cedric Simmons. He said that the coaches have been treating Grant as a team leader alongside Bennerman and Evtimov. The freshmen are coming around and McCauley looks the most comfortable so far in our style of offense.
He swears up and down that we will be a national title contender in a year or two

I dunno man, we have a pretty deep team right now who all believe in Sendeks system.

if the freshmen this year are anywhere near as good as our freshmen from last year theres no reason we wouldnt be a powerhouse in a year or two...I bet we'll turn some heads this year

I think Grant or this Fells kid just needs to step up as that playmaker that Hodge was, and we'll be fine. I'm not gonna expect much, after all, this is NC State we're talking about here, but I agree that we have some tallent and should not be overlooked.

Also, with a team as deep as we should be, there is no reason to play this fucking slow down ball that seems to get us in trouble. Yeah, hold it untill we have a shot, but stop passing it at the half court just to kill time....god thats the only part of Sendek's system that pisses me off, and man does it piss me off. Duke plays that slow down offense too when they have big leads in big games, and it always ends up backfiring.

The passing at halfcourt is what gives us the spacing to do the cuts that are so necessary to setting up our offense. If you remember last year in the early part of the season we were setting up by the arc and it was killing our game it is the primary reason we sucked so bad early in the season IMHO.

should be an interesting year, i see Gavin really steppin up this year along with Bethel gettin it done if he can stay healthy

^if bethel wasnt gonna be playing this year, they would probably have said something like "the pack did take one tough loss recently, when they learned that sophmore reserve gavin grant would not be able to play this year due to questions over his right to be in the country."

something like that.

Effort goes a long way in my book.
I think this is Bennerman's big year. He was getting really fired up; focusing his emotions in his play and it was helping a lot towards the end of the season, if that makes sense

^^Gary Williams has a National Championship ring and an ACC tourney ring. He's taken very average teams talent-wise to the sweet 16 and beyond.

Herb's got nothin on that. Before last year Herb was GW's bitch for a LONG time. Learn some history before you act like Herb has GW's number.

^ We're 4-6, including ACC Tourney games, against UMd in the last 4 years. Not great, but certainly not enough to call Herb Gary's "bitch."

PLEASE, someone with sports knowledge, PLEASE EXPLAIN why WF is above us at three.

I think that Miami deserves that spot a hell of a lot more than them.

While I may not agree with it, I can see an argument being made for WF at three. I'll explain:

Star Power.
-Justin Gray is the best perimeter threat in the ACC besides Reddick, and everyone who's watched him play knows he's a tough kid who when he gets on, can take a game over.
- Eric Williams - will dominate the inside in the ACC against virtually everyone but Williams. Could be All-ACC and even garner some National attention if he plays well.

Though there is a significant drop in talent beyond these two, N.C. State lacks anyone with the kind of star power or ability that these two have. Actually, it's something that anyone beneath them in these rankings are without....legitimate stars.

um....no

We played a bunch of games where we got a big lead by playing an uptempo game with hard defense. Look at the Duke and UNC games(unc game at home)...when we tried to slow the ball down, we lost the lead because we weren't looking to score anymore. Dont confuse passing the ball around at half court with spreading the floor...there is a HUGE difference. We get into trouble when we hang out at half court for 15-20 seconds before the ball even sees the 3 point line...this is what i think has to stop. I'm not bashing Herb's offense here, I'm bashing the way he handles this particular situation....I just think we have a better shot to win if we are more focused on scoring rather than running out the clock.

he will dominate the inside against a few ACC teams. but Williams can simply disappear from games if he gets frustrated. but without Paul they might make him the focal point of their offense. I thought that was one big problem with their team from last year...

Me either, cause he didn't get the ball. Even with Downey playing point, they had problems getting it to him, so I dont think he will be as dominant this year as they're saying.

^He didn't get the rock much last year because they didn't need him to be a superstar.

A guy that big without anyone of equal skill to oppose him WILL get the ball in a game. Saying they won't be able to get it to him is not a strong argument against Wake. Will the PG be able to get him amazing passes like Paul could...no. Will whoever is the PG get the ball to him. Sure.

^^He did disappear at times last year, but he has been improving on his foul trouble and apparently his stamina. If I was a betting man, I'd bet Williams has a big year in the paint against unskilled and small ACC counterparts.

With that said, I'm still not sure Wake deserves to be ahead of us...but I can see why the media picked them there.

I actually hope he does well, I'd like to see him really challenge Fetal-Alcohol Syndrom in their games. I remember in HS hearing from people at WFR about how Eric was a pretty cool guy.
