Bush could just pardon Rove, Cheney, Libby, DeLay and Frist.

^^ They have to be convicted first. Neverminding, of course, that they are charged with offenses that no one serves prison time for.

He received due criticism for that.

But, if Bush chooses to use his pardons for anyone mentioned at the top of this thread, you can bet it'll be a(nother) huge black mark on his presidency.

Wrong - See: Bush I and Casper Weinberger (and the rest of the Iran/Contra crowd)

See also: Ford pardoning Nixon prior to any conviction

Agree wholeheartedly. Some of those were shameful.

^Agreed. If something goes down with Rove, etc, folks will have forgotten about it by Fall '06 if it's a quick trial.

"TELL THE PRESIDENT: NO MORE PARDONS FOR TRAITOR-GATE CRIMINALS
Convicted Previously of National Security Crimes
Elliott Abrahms is Newest Figure in Traitor-gate

Did you know that Elliot Abrahms, pardoned by the first President Bush for the Iran-Contra crimes he committed under the Reagan Administration, now works for the Bush White House? And has been implicated in the leak of Valerie Plame's covert identity? Fitzgerald may well successfully prosecute senior White House officials. Insist that anyone convicted in this case be ineligible for a presidential pardon. Demand that the President not pardon any criminals in his administration who compromise our national security!"

how much of a badass would you have to be to be pardoned twice... by different presidents?

BULLSHIT

a few right wing media outlets called him on that and the MSLM turned a blind eye

BS there was a bunch of shit about it... i remember repeatedly seeing his face as he sat there signing stuff in connection with pardons. they seemed to use the same clip over and over again, and kept saying last minute pardons and such.

yea. and.

can you imagine the abject HYSTERIA the media would descend into if bush pardoned anyone in his administration, much less libby?

of course he would get hell.. and im sure he will when he does exactly what clinton did and do it on the last day. but i dont see how thats any different from what they " the media" did to clinton when he did the same damn thing.

wait and see.

until then, why don't you review the amount of hell MSLM has given to robert byrd's past vs. trent lott's relatively innocuous statement

but i mean, if that's too painful, we can just play the waiting game, assuming bush has the moral deficit necessary to actually give out those pardons like clinton

its not like robert byrd is our beacon of a good politician, at least not mine. i mean shit are you telling me that everyone on your "side" you would agree with at all costs? if you would then we can quit talking now. i def. lean democratic, but i dont consider my self democratic. infact i agree with many of the things that bush does economically. maybe with the exception of the tax cut, i have agreed with him. i hate it when people point out one wacko and assume he represents the entire view and if im not mistaken, i dont want to do any research on this now, wasnt he the former KKK member. shit for that reason alone that guy shouldnt be in office...

That's pretty badass, but pretty ridiculous and sad too.
