SO yeah, this is pretty fucking annoying...
For the sake of troubleshooting, all firewalls are off and i'm only using one WAN connection. all the wan IP addresses, dns servers and gateway info is the same as it was on the last router. it works fine for the most part as long as i don't download anything large...ie just browsing is fine but if i download ANYTHING over 500kb the internet goes out for about 5 seconds...the download stops and never continues, i get kicked off of aim which it signs right back on to and i can't browse the web for a few seconds (you get the idea)
i do not have this problem when connected directly to the modem, anybody have a damn clue what i can try before calling linksys tech support which i'm sure will be of no help??

hehe, now theyre either saying to either turn down the MTU until it starts working right or the unit is bad and theyll replace it. from reading online it seems this is a somewhat common problem on some units and not an issue at all on others...blah for linksys quality control 10/26/2005 10:47:15 AM |

how old is the router? also, is it being kept relatively cool? that seems to make a difference when routers are acting flaky. also, is that your personal router or a work router? 10/26/2005 6:09:04 PM |

its brand new, just took it out of the box yesterday and had this problem before and after updating the firmware. its at/for work, I was trying to get things going smooth again without spending too much money behind the ceo's back. normally i would have just gotten something from cisco but i really didnt think itd be necessary.
anyways, anymore ideas?? linksys tech support told me usually when that happens the unit is bad and should be replaced..damn i dont feel like waiting on getting another one lol 10/26/2005 6:12:55 PM |

for anybody who might possibly care, lowering the MTU to 1400 and changing some of the load balancing stuff seems to have fixed it...thank god 10/28/2005 1:38:01 AM |

yeah this thing has annoyed the shit out of me and will likely be the last linksys product i buy. i used a piece of shit $50 router from walmart to handle splitting the internet to about a 40 person office for over a year without a single problem and we 'ugprade' to this because i wanted to take advantage of some of the features it has and it can't even do the most damn basic thing a router is suppose to do for more than 30 seconds
oh, and it worked fine for two hours but is back to fucking up again, this thing is getting sent back 10/28/2005 2:35:57 AM |

Ok I've replaced this damn thing two times now...I'm on the 3rd router. Same problem with every single one of them. We called in an outside networking company to diagnose it and they can't find the problem either. wtf linksys 11/18/2005 5:56:49 PM |
