this should work
uninstall
install ccleaner
run ccleaner's registry fix. fix all errors, run registry cleaner 2 more times just to be sure. delete all temp files using ccleaner (be sure to uncheck the option 'only delete files in temp folder older than 45days' under options)
then reinstall
if that doesn't work then repeat but before you reinstall go through your registry and delete all keys relating to firefox.
that above process always works for me when i run into problems like that.

it's an extension or theme you have installed.
if you use the safe mode shortcut in your start menu, i bet it'll be fine.
try process of elimination. 10/28/2005 1:32:10 AM |

i can't use the menu functions and i thought it might be the theme, but i couldn't figure out how to change it w/o the menu.
i have uninstalled all extra themes but it doesn't work properly unless i use safe mode.

^ setting firefox to pipeline is a good way to get TWW to auto-reject your requests. Jake has talked about this in earlier threads
i like the paintdelay tip, though
and just to discourage self-promotion, here's the tip so you don't have to go to the page he linked:
Quote : | "1.Type “about:config” into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:
network.http.pipelining network.http.proxy.pipelining network.http.pipelining.maxrequests
Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.
2. Alter the entries as follows:
Set “network.http.pipelining” to “true”
Set “network.http.proxy.pipelining” to “true”
Set “network.http.pipelining.maxrequests” to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.
3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it “nglayout.initialpaint.delay” and set its value to “0?. This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives." |

See if making a new profile or deleting all the profiles works: http://www.mozilla.org/support/firefox/profile 10/31/2005 12:03:25 AM |

Just find your original profile (if you didn't delete it) and copy over the bookmark folder.
Then you only have to re-setup your extensions/preferences. 10/31/2005 9:29:35 AM |
