I am going to see Cryptopsy, Suffocation, Aborted, Despised Icon, Vader, and Decapitated the night before in Springfield, VA.

I love Jaxx.

I honestly do not know if I can afford both, but I am already committed to the Cryptopsy show. Perhaps my brother can spot me or something, because I would love to see Opeth again.

Just a warning to those who are Into Eternity fans, you will HATE HATE HATE their new singer. He is a complete clown and honestly almost ruins their performance. He tries to show off his vocal range at the most inappropriate times and it pissed me off SO bad when I saw them with Stratovarius. They should just let the guitarists and bassist sing/scream because they are MUCH better anyway.

AMAZING show last night....definitely one of the best metal shows I've seen in a while.

Into Eternity as decent I suppose, didn't really care much for them.

Nevermore was fucking badass though....Jeff Loomis is incredible. Their drummer was great as well...his playing was so fluid, a real joy to watch. I was beginning to get sick last night, so thankfully their bassist tossed me a bottle of water...w00t! Their setlist was something like this:

Born
My Acid Words
Bittersweet Feast
The River Dragon Has Come
Never Purify
Beyond Within
This Godless Endeavor
The Final Product
Enemies of Reality

I'm pretty sure that's what they played.

Opeth was friggin incredible. Mikael was having some trouble with his monitors....his guitar sounded like shit coming out of that thing. But the sound getting pumped through the PA was fine, but I was right up front so I could hear the monitor trouble....it was a bit distracting and I could tell Miakel was really frustrated with it.

I was really impressed with Martin Axenrot's playing, he did a great job filling in for Lopez. He stuck pretty close to Lopez's parts, and he was very solid. I'm not sure if he was playing to a click track, but his time was pretty much dead on. Lopez wasn't missed last night, Axe gets from me.

When and Blackwater Park were the highlight of last night for me.....would've liked some material from Morningrise or Orchid, but that's not going to happen. Mikael introduced Deliverance as a song dedicated to Burt Reynolds and ass-fucking..."this is a song about sodomy....Duh-liv-er-uhnce"

They played:

The Baying of the Hounds
When
Bleak
In my Time of Need
Grand Conjuration
Face of Melinda
Deliverance
Blackwater Park
Demon of the Fall (encore)

I brought my camera, but didn't take any pics. It was too rough up front to get a steady shot....oh well.

Oh, and I bought this badass Ghost Reveries shirt last night, but I washed it today, and it shrunk like a motherfucker. Doesn't fit me anymore.

nvm...apparently, Lopez is still recovering from the sickness he got on the sounds of the underground tour.

fuckin awesome show. i was very disappointed when they came out and i noticed lopez was replaced, but axe did a great job. followed martin's beats pretty closely, and he was very solid. i guess i was just a little miffed though (me being a drummer that idolizes lopez) that it just didn't have martin's "touch." but oh well, axe did great. everything else was near perfect, little to no fuckups (besides the difficulties ktcosent noted above).

mendez tore up the bass, he played very well (besides one wrong note that mike picked up on and gave him shit about, pretty funny). mike and peter were both spot-on, they played as well as anyone could have expected them to. mike had a little trouble with his clean voice in a couple parts during the middle of their set, but that was neglectable and short-lived.

i'll have to agree that blackwater park was the height of their set, that was a fucking incredible experience hearing that live, played flawlessly. i would have liked to have heard a little more off earlier albums (excluding their first two, no use in hoping they'll ever do that live unfortunately). i really wanted to hear The Moor or Serenity Painted Death, but i was pleased with their choices; fully expected to hear Master's Apprentices and Drapery Falls, but i'm glad they played stuff like Face of Melinda and When instead. it was cool to hear Bleak, that was the first song i ever heard by them and the one that sparked my interest. the only gripe i have with their song choices is that i wished they'd chosen something better off damnation than In my Time of Need...i'd have loved to have heard windowpane or closure.

that said, i wasn't real impressed with into eternity...they played alright, but i'm just not big on those high-pitched power metal vocals...Nevermore though was fucking awesome, I really wish I'd gotten into them earlier.
