My brother's comuter is dead. Not quite sure what is wrong with it. He has purchased a new graphics card, motherboard, etc. to try to get it up and running without any luck. I am looking for a place to just take all the existing componants to get fixed. I would either want it back up and running or possibly using the componants to build a new computer. My brother leaves fairly close to Wilmington and the local computer places have been of no help. Any good places in Wilmington would be preferred but I could bring it up to Raleigh if needed. 11/5/2005 11:57:09 AM |

if he replaced ALL the guts (cpu, mobo, graphics card, memory) and it doesn't even post, then it's very likely your power supply is bad. that would have been a 40-140 dollar part depending on where you got it and what kind of hardware you need to power. 11/5/2005 11:59:01 AM |

Well he had the computer running before he started buying parts for it. He bought some parts to just to upgrade. The graphics cards is suppose to be the latest or best somtehing. His computer has been down for a few months now and I think at this point he just want somebody else to fix it. It could be the power supply but I would HOPE the local computer ppl tried that. 11/5/2005 12:03:35 PM |

heh, if he was doing it in a place with the heat on and some burbor carpet, he probably shocked something and fucked it up.
maybe the power supply isn't enough for the thing to boot. the "newest and greatest" graphics cards draw more power than some old computers. 11/5/2005 2:06:42 PM |
