We beat FSU, but we lose to UNC?

Is all this inconsistency simply because of Jay Davis and Marcus Stone? Granted, I know that UNC recently beat a ranked team as well, but still. UNC is no FSU.

we're ALWAYS inconsistent... every year, every sport...
never EVER bet on NC State to win or lose...

We're inconsistent becuase we're not a very good team. We got lucky vs. FSU. Our QB woes are far from over... and I doubt we're through losing.

We need a QB...Stone isn't getting it done. He's winning, which is great, but this is still a pretty bad team. We've got to find some QB production before next year

And timswar is correct. NC State is always inconsistent. I'd like to think that with a decent QB we would have had a great season this year. The FSU just goes to show that.... we're really talented, it's just that every year we have some really glaring weakness. Years ago it was the Defense, now its the QB.

Maybe one day we'll be solid everywhere and actually win games we should

at this point, i'd be more concerned about losing to WAKE FOREST than UNC..

^what crack are you smoking? wake is generally a tough game for a lot of teams. They may not be as big and as fast, but they tend to play mistake free ball. And then run a lot of trickery that they are quite good at.

we should have beat them, but its not like we are USC. it doubt it will ever be a walk in the park.

I think the UNC loss looked a lot better as the season progresses.


There's no reason to EVER accept losing to UNC, but they're a pretty good team this year.

You don't watch any Wake football, do you?

They've nearly beaten FSU and BC this year. Wake is quite possibly the best team for making the most out of the least talent.

They play hard every game, and typically it's very close until the 4th quarter, at which time they give up quick scores.

Our past inconsistency and suckage can be blamed on any number of variables. Lack of funding, lack of school spirit, lack of talent. But now our football team has more funding than it ever has had in the past. We also have more talent pouring into our program than ever before. We should be breaking out of our shell by now, but we aren't. If it isn't the coaching, and it isn't the players, then what the hell is it?

We've had great offenses (Rivers factored into that), great special teams, and a great defense,

It's a matter of putting them together. I'm telling you guys.... it takes time. Chucks first 5 years have impressed me (Maybe it was Rivers). Compare his first few years to Frank Beamer, Mike Price, Bobby Bowden, etc.


It takes time. Im not saying Chuck = Beamer/Bowden et.al... but he could wind up to be a very good coach. 5 years is not enough to BUILD a program. If you're Miami or Florida..yes. They have the tradition and national prominence to bounce back. We dont. It's gonna take awhile (Even if it happens at all).

I personally believe we are headed in the right direction. I'm not excusing this season... I'm frustrated as hell too, but I see a lot more positives than negatives. With a QB we'd be a super team this year

The biggest problem is that too many assistant coaches leave every year for whatever reason. Sometimes it takes coaches awhile to adjust to one another. Trestman is adjusting from the NFL to college, which is a big change considering the difference in hash marks, etc.

That makes sense. We still have a great defense, but our offense this year is completely hit or miss. Stone seems to be playing better than Davis, but that might just be because he keeps running the football, and Davis keeps throwing interceptions.
